"There are many incidents and chaos that have happened in Pattaya recently which have caused public nuisances."

Show us the statistics on crimes committed between 2am and 4am in the area then, boys, and how it compares to the rest of the 24-hour period.

All these people angry because they can't stay out to party. Businesses stunted, pissed off because they can't earn the good money that's traditionally spent during those hours.

Years prior to COVID none of this was of such concern so as to move on it.

What's changed?

Let's see the data you're basing these decisions on, so people can understand why you're doing it.

No under 20 year olds allowed to enter an entertainment venue now at all.

So that would mean any 18 and 19 year old girls, don't have a job in a bar anymore.

Number 8 on the list, should be, cracking down on the amount of really young kids, and babies that should be in a bed at 2am, but they're not.

Instead they're being dragged around the bars by their mothers, trying to sell tourists crap like flowers or gum or some other shit that nobody wants, and the police choose to completely ignore it. Makes me furious every time I see it.

Did you read the article? Nothing was mentioned along those lines.

Besides, the majority of the road stuff - the peak of it - both alcohol-induced and otherwise, happens much earlier than that.

This is what he said:

""Pattaya must be clear of underage users at entertainment venues, human trafficking, weapons, drugs, and overstaying foreigners.” Nantawut added."

Also:

"There are many incidents and chaos that have happened in Pattaya recently which have caused public nuisances."

They're not talking about road accidents.

Sounds more like cops are sick of dealing with drunkards - fights, robberies, that sort of thing - with a little bit of posturing about image (national and international) thrown in.

Technically read, yeah, although I assume the spirit of that is to avoid underage drinking.

I thought bars tended to avoid employing under-20 girls anyway. Not strictly, but as a bit of a general thing in order to avoid trouble when it came to the distinction between serving and drinking alcohol.

Could be wrong. Maybe bar owners/managers could clarify.

There are 18 and 19 y.o girls working in the bars, I’ve bar fined quite a few of them in the last few months.

You’re correct in using the word technically, it will be up to the individual bar owners, whether they want to test the new directive or not.

Do you feel that a tendency away from something indicates elimination?

If I say I have a tendency towards choosing apples over oranges, have I just said I don't eat oranges? Probably not, right?

That's why I used that phrasing, because that's what it means.

If I meant they didn't hire them, that's what I would have said. Some obviously do.

As stated, bar managers/owners would be best-placed to comment on this. It's what I've both been told and heard from managers.

STs in-house not as big a deal, but there's talk that a lot of hotels have policies against having under 20s as well, which would be a PITA to get back her back to yours and they won't let her in - so it's not just the alcohol that might play a part in the decision.

No, it's not just that.

It's whether the directive is intended in the way that you've taken it.

They may have no intention at all to remove any under-20 girl from their job in a bar.

Like most of the RULES and laws that are announced to be enforced, that's an area that would need to be clarified.

then they should enforce helmet wearing on bikes and have regular DUI check points at night (and check & fine all thais and farang!). that's easy enough to solve.

restricting the closing times will only have a small influence on drunk driving. as the covid years have shown, people simply start drinking earlier if everything has to close at midnight.

It wasn't the police that raided them.

I thought I saw a couple of uniform type shirts....the rest could've been Banglamung urologists I suppose.

As you suggest, there used to be lots of 18 and 19 year olds in GoGos (as the R.les appear to be)..
Then the Army took control and said it was 20 to be in the bar, so GoGos which wanted to keep out of trouble complied re' workers and did ID checks on Thai guests (for a while).
The Army seems to be less involved these days (?) but it seems the BiB are sticking with that interpretation ?

Almost certainly not. Hopefully a sensible decision will be made on the 29th.

I believe it's that time so they don't play 40c + degree heat.

In the past when this was being enforced, you could take your passport and have a small laminated copy made at most Travel Agencies. They also made a copy of your entry stamp.

It's better than carrying your passport around and I was once checked and it was acceptable to the BIB
