Injured Man flown in by helicopter

On Saturday morning a Thai Aviation Services helicopter, contracted by the Chevron company and employed to ferry oil rig workers back and forth, was involved in a mercy mission, transporting a seriously injured 25-year-old Thai fishermen to U-tapao airport where he was transferred to the Queen Sirikit hospital in Sattahip for treatment. The man suffered a seriously fractured right leg while out at sea. Fortunately, the boat he was on was close by an oil rig where the man was given first aid, his leg being placed in a splint. The rig management realized the injured man needed urgent hospital treatment and called in the helicopter since the rig was 200 kilometres offshore. The trip from the rig to U-Tapao took just over one hour and the injured man is now recovering in hospital.
