Man seriously wounded on Beach Road promenade during fight

 

At around 4:00 o’clock on Friday morning police and rescue personnel were called to the Beach Road promenade opposite Pattayaland Soi 1 to attend to a 28-year Thai man who had been seriously wounded in a stabbing incident. The man, who works as a doorman at the Lucky 7 boys a go-go bar, had been drinking with three of his friends on the promenade after finishing work. According to one of the wounded man’s friends they had chatted with a couple of young ladies who were walking along the promenade as part of their daily exercise. This apparently angered another group of five Thai males whose self-appointed job description is to provide protective services for such females. A verbal argument soon descended into a physical altercation and during the melee the 28-year-old was stabbed. The gang of five then ran off into the night. Rescue workers rolled the victim onto his side and lifted his shirt, in order to treat the wound at the scene. He was then taken to hospital. Police say they are aware of the gang of five and have had problems with them previously and are hopeful of making an arrest soon.
