About 10,000 police, soldiers, security officials deployed to keep security at Government House

BANGKOK: -- About 10,000 policemen, soldiers and defence volunteers were deployed to keep security at the Government House.

The officials were spread out around the government seat.

The officials also put up barbed wires around the fence of the Government House and they set up barricades using fire trucks, water trucks, road rollers and containers.

The officials used containers to set up a blockade on the road next to the Orathai Bridge with only a small passage for people to walk past.

On the road next to Makkhawan Rangsan Bridge, the officials also set up containers and suspect detention vehicles and leave a small passage for officials to walk past.

The officials did not put blockade on the road next to Chamai Maruchet Bridge but simply used metal barricades to line up the road.

But the officials used 8 containers to block the road along the Prem Prachakorn Canal so that Cabinet members could use the Gate 7 on the road to enter and leave the Government House compound.

Better not be there when I am scheduled to arrive on the 19th or I am single handed going to remove every one of them, I have waited to long and planned to much for this trip for it to go down the drain :(

Maybe, just once, someone will call me "sir" without adding, "you're making a scene."

If the military fully supports the government this could get real bloody. I imagine if they killed a few hundred protesters the rest would take a hint but the cost to the country would be huge if something like this happened.

This can't happen again can it? The closure last time cost me a lot of money. I am due to fly out on the 9th April :GoldenSmile1::NoNo3:

That, and a couple of other reasons, is why I think the red shirts are not going to get anywhere near the airport. They don't have the support of Bangkok's elite as PAD had.

If it did happen it better not happen until after Sunday.... :GoldenSmile1:

who gives a fuck TIT

Better to be daring and cool, than timid and uncool! Life's journey is not about arriving at your gravesite in a well preserved condition, but rather dropping into it in a long sideways skid, totally worn out, and shouting "Holy Shit...What a ride" - Indian Larry

well, arriving on the 18 april, so not sure if this is good or bad news... :001_Sawasdee:

the bad news could be that the airport in bkk will be closed, and i will have a long trip from either Phuket, chiangmai,or whatever around.....

the good news could be it would make the Thaibaht go down a lot due to panic.... :10of10Score:

so what to hope for?? i wouldnt mind the extra trip...if the baht dropped 25%... :Drunk_Party:

Another shut down of the airport would bring more trouble for the Thai economy. When more people see this they will think twice before going to Thailand. The favourite holiday destination that LOS is could be getting a bad name to many farang.

Cheers,

Adrie.

The red shirts support ousted President THaksin. They are more a political movement not really socialists.
