O-A visa - health insurance company

In order to obtain a O-A retirement visa, a health insurance with a coverage of 3.000.000 baht is required.

I have found an insurance with "Regency for expats" insurance company, that I find the best. Some websites claim that the company you choose, must be one of 12 particular ones. Unfortunately my choice is not on that list. But I am not sure this is actually true. On the Thai Embassy list of requirements, it does not say anything about this. Can anyone clarify this, or tell me where to go for correct information?

The list I have seen, is on several websites, fx this:

For your initial application in your home country the insurance can be with anyone - as long as they are willing to provide appropriate paperwork. However, when it comes to the annual extensions of stay in Thailand the insurance must be with one of the approved companies.

I don't want to hijack this O-A thread, but the Non O immigrant also requires insurance. Does the ''approved companies'' rule also apply to Non O?

It doesn’t require insurance for the annual extension of stay only for the initial application.

Yes, just did mine earlier this week and there was zero insurance requirement.
