My Day Out at St Andrews 2000

Tuna Town

Recommended Posts

Played here in June

Green Fee 1300 baht.

Caddy/Cart included

Tee off early and around in about 2.5 hours as only myself and the caddy in our group

Played here about 6 years ago. Remember it had 2 Par 6s and wasn't an easy course

As for my golf game I play off 12 so with 91 off the stick around there it was somewhat Ok. Got off to a slow start but did get 7 para for the round but my round could be summed up by I just couldn't get a break today.

Have a look at the Photo included with this post. There was a fairway bunker smack bang in the middle of the fairway. I proceeded to aim at it and hit it straight at the Fairway Bunker

Get to the ball and it has gone over the bunker and got caught in the long grass where you can see it in the photo Couple more yards and I am 30 metres up the fairway a couple of yards less I am in the bunker. Either side of the pot by 5 metres and I am on the fairway

This just summed up my day here getting into the worst possible spot that I could on lots of holes for what weren't bad shots in essence

My driving I was happy with

My irons were hot n cold

Putting I was struggling with as I got to grips with the distance issue. started off with a 3 putt on the first

Highlight of the round was the way I played the 6th a Par 4 over water with bunkers everywhere. Smashed the drive perfectly down the line I wanted to find the grass. Pitched about 60 meters setting up a birdie putt which just rolled by for a tap in par. Can't complain about not getting the birdie but the way I played the hole was pleasing as when I arrived at the hole I was standing there in awe hoping not to fuck it up

Lowlight was the 6 on the 10th a Par 3 over a canyon which was a water hazard. Not a hard hole with an 8 iron

Hit one into the water hazard as I shanked the tee shot. Can't recall the last time I shanked one

Lobbed ball 2 on the green and 3 putted  so turned an easy hole into a 6

As for the Par6s I scored an eight on the first one after hooking the 3Wood into the hazard left I was then left in a position where I laid up before the water carry after a drop so I was hitting 4 from where I expected to be hitting my second from. From there the 6th went on and 2 putted for an 8.

On the second one I got a 7. Got a good tee shot away 2nd away but what hurt me was I hit the 3rd about fat when I was only hitting a 5 iron trying to position it. This left me in no man's land for realistically reaching the green in 4 so was forced to lay up and pitch on for 5. Did have a chance to 1 putt for a Par but missed the putt.

The course is a great course quite challenging with a lot of elevation changes and part of the Green Valley complex. Will be back in the future

Only played it once about 6 years ago but I remember it being long off the back tees and a very tough test.

Your photos brought back fond memories of that day. Thanks for sharing.

Not sure why I haven't played it on my subsequent trips. Might give it another go in November.

I also remembered it as ridiculous hard test of golf

This time around I just took the crap out of the picture on most holes and just thought about what was in front of me . IE a 150metre shot into an an elevated green. All the undulations running away from the hole are irrelevant if you execute that 150 metre shot correctly.

This is one of those places where what you see can deceive you

There ain't no water on the first hole. There weren't no water until the 4th hole from memory

Down hill Par 4 then a Uphill Par 4 followed by a downhill Par 3 to start the day

Green Valley definitely has the first over water. Can't comment on Silky Oak as it been about 6 years

Nice report mate and thanks for posting. I return to LoS (this time for good) in September…can’t wait to play all those lovely Chonburi course again. I love playing golf at this complex - enjoy all 3 courses.

I´ve been there last time in December 2021, after looking at your pictures playing in June would be a much better idea, in december it was dried out for the most part.

I found myself enduring a lot of rain in Los in June just gone. Been at that time of year in the past and didn't have as much rain as I had this year.

It's a great little set up with 3 courses available that all are different. Wish they would spend a bit of coin modernising the Locker Room there though
