The attacker’s face is clearly on the video. Shouldn’t be too difficult to find him.

That video looked a lot more than a simple assault.

Did you see the attacker? If he’s taking steroids, he’s doing it all wrong

Imagine risking your visa to stay in Thailand on an altercation over the use of gym equipment. 🙄

The attacker will need to pay off a lot of people, including Mr Reed, to get out of this self-inflicted mess.

Yeah, could maybe even be classified as assault with a deadly weapon.

Unless he went straight to the airport and next plane out like a lot of these scum do. Was an Israeli who stabbed a guy on Walking Street for touching the BG he was with and that's what he did.

Watched the CCTV footage.  Made me angry.  For anyone who didn't watch it, it wasn't like some stand up fight.  Guy sucker punched the other guy with a metal barbell while he was lifting.

Lucky the guy didn't get hurt a lot worse.

Unbelievable!  I’ve always said Pattaya is a magnet for insecure types, nutters and lowlifes.  Sure, one could say they’re in every country.

But Pattaya has the highest concentration of them per square mile.  Without a doubt.

Can't argue with you there unfortunately.

Fortunately neither of them could punch their way out of a paper bag so injuries where trivial considering a fair choice of weapon and a free shot.

BTW who proof reads these publications? Two photos - two different eyes!

Arrest has been made.

Once again the focus on Thailand as a tourist destination has dark clouds over it & just when the skies were clearing. The Powers That Be will not be at all happy. I would expect an example will be made of this chap to deter any more such infarctions. 😐

An open gash needing 60 stitches and nearly being blinded, possibly killed from a 1KG weight being smashed on your head is not trivial. Reading the body language in the video, the victim definitely was restraining himself, even while injured, he could have easily beat the crap out of the sloppy fat fuck attacker.

I don't see how two foreigners from the same country (article said they were both "Brits") being involved in an altercation in a gym has anything to do with Thailand as a tourism destination or could affect it. Could happen anywhere.

Coco Fitness on Beach Road.

It’s the only gym in pattaya I haven’t been in, but the guys in Muscle Factory tell me it can be a bit of a middle aged Twat agro gym

I would thought it was obvious; LoS is trying to rebuild their tourism & welcome returning holiday makers. This attack sends athe wrong message & highlights LoS as perhaps a place some might want to avoid plus it puts Brits in a bad light.

It was a crime not an altercation, the guy was hit on the head with an iron weight & his injuries could have been far worse. 🙂

Yep, if you remember that dick at Taco Bell threatening and going at that guy who asked where was his mask.   Three days later immigration /police/news crew & full plastic banner poster .     Especially pointing out it was unacceptable in Thailand.

Think there is a way bigger message here re "antics" and "venting" - CCTV everywhere , in most bars and public places etc - simply can't be a dick and expect not to get caught and not like the old days of "he said /she said etc " now everything on social in a heart beat.

yeah the CCTV has made things easier for the cops. and as stated  it is social media that helps get things done here. the moment the video hits facebook or the international press get hold of a story the police will move at speed to try and protect the image of Thailand. the guy may well get out of it but not without parting with a large amount of folded

Do they in most cases?

There is this idea of horrendous Thai prisons and long sentences always being handed out for violent crimes, but how consistently is that the case?

It seems that a lot of foreigners behave with impunity in Thailand or at least there isn’t the serious consequences that are reliably dished out in say Singapore.

Just a perception that many violent foreigners seem to escape tough justice. I could be completely wrong and maybe reading beyond headlines articles would demonstrate something totally different.
