Hemingway’s opened 2nd branch at old Retox

Only just found out, though it apparently happened last month, but Hemingway’s in Jomtien have also opened a branch at the old Retox site on Soi Honey.

Looks like it’s pretty identical in menu and pricing from a quick glance.

 

I’m told standards at the one in Jomtien have slipped recently, maybe this is why.

It hasn't been getting good reviews - my food was very average - but they spent loads on a remodel - important to some ....

Been in a few times and It’s pretty good. It’s been much quieter than Retox was, but I’m sure it will pick up

 

food was fine, get the impression it’s finding it’s feet

Yep got to agree visited 2 times the meals I had in my opinion were over priced and very very average .

Could have got similar from Cheap Charlie’s for 50 % cheaper.

Could have saved a lot of money by just giving the bar a mini refurbishment like just recovering the seats and so on.

I really don’t like how the bar is set up just doesn’t feel comfortable

it opened about the middle of march. BM soi 7 told me he and a buddy went to try it but walked out as there was no sort of burger on the menu (there is a roll with fish fingers in it but that ain't a burger)

i just checked the menu on that link and no burger is listed

Thanks, I hadn’t realised until today. From the pictures, it looks like a clone of the one in Jomtien. I go to that one a lot as it’s the best place in that area to watch all the sport, and it’s a comfortable environment with decent beer. Food has always been hit and miss.

Yes, it’s a great replacement to Retox game on. Shame Retox game on closed on Soi Honey as it was a good place for food and watching sport.

As soon as the tourists come back, it’s going to be packed.

The location is great. They have all the sport on TV, air conditioning, pub food and reasonable beer prices.

I tried the Chicken Parmigiana special they have on Mondays for 199 baht. It was quite good. It is certainly cheaper than the Robin Hood version of the dish at 349 baht (+ 7% VAT).

I mentioned it briefly a few Fridays ago when I was persuaded to try the FnC there............

.............it was disappointing,..... not been back.

I think Witherspoons has filled any void Retox left.

Yep not a burger in sight on the menu I'm sure they're going to change that though I would think seems like the kind of place that would have them on the menu

Not having a burger on the menu is a big plus for any restaurant in my book.

Popped in a few times this weekend and it’s getting busier, once the restaurant beds in and more and more tourists come back, they are going to make a fortune.

They made the switch to tablets in Jomtien about 3 years ago or a bit more. Can’t see them going back to proper menus, sadly. Really don’t like the tablets.

Higher one off cost versus savings (time and a little money) from not needing to re-print all the menus when prices change or items are added or removed.

Why bother with menus or tablets? Just have a bar code on each table and can scan it with your phone, save coin, way forward?
