My flight arrives into BKK at 23:45 on a Friday night. Will the exchange booths in the airport be open when I arrive, or should I exchange money before I leave the states. I'd rather not, because the exchange rate at my local bank sucks. Any info appreciated.

Exchange booths will be open. Lots going on at that hour. You will hit one just after immigration.
