Avani what is the deal currently

I know from threads a few years back that they had a joiners fee. Then some BM's would chime in 'back when it was Marriott it wasn't the case but I was platinum member' or 'I would sneak them in through the garden entrance',.... all of which doesn't help at all.

Anybody know if they currently have a joiners fee? Can the BG stay with you at the pool, hotel bar,...?

Thanks.

I emailed the hotel so got my answer (see below). You need to pay their Avani Flexi with breakfast rate direct with the hotel. This rate for the Seaview rooms are 869 THB more expensive than the basic rate (both include breakfast) so it's a joke. The BG you bring over can't even have breakfast with you or use the pool.

The below bit (last part of the email I received) is full proof of their hypocrisy. If you would not allow it because of the strict rules and regulations then why is it allowed if you pay the highest rate for your room? Also if you pay this highest rate then your safety and security is not important anymore I guess.

For all board members who say that there is no joiner fee there because ' when I was platinum member and it was a Mariott, bla bla bla' just keep it for yourself.

The above is in line with the strict rules and regulations we are required to follow, which is common practice in Pattaya. Additionally, this helps us better ensure guests’ safety and security, which is always our paramount objective.

Greetings from Avani Pattaya Resort!

Thank you so much for your e-mail.

There is no ‘companion’ or ‘visitor’ fee when booking an Avani Flexi with breakfast, directly with the hotel.

For other rate plans and other indirect booking channels, a ‘companion’ or ‘visitor’ fee of 1,000 baht net, per visitor, per day/night will apply.

Visitor policy:

  • Visitor must register at the Front Desk. ID card or passport will be checked for the correct name, picture and age of the visitor.
  • hotel will not allow any person who is less than 18 years of age and those who do not carry an ID card or passport with them, to visit the guest rooms.
  • Visitor will be escorted to the guest’s room if he/she is arriving alone.
  • Visitor will be required to leave the hotel premises before noon, and he/she will not allowed to use any of the hotel facilities.
  • Where applicable, guest will be able to settle the fee by cash/credit card or charge it to their room, to be settled upon check out.

If a reservation is made for two people who check-in and register together upon arrival, the above criteria (except point 2), will not apply.

The above is in line with the strict rules and regulations we are required to follow, which is common practice in Pattaya. Additionally, this helps us better ensure guests’ safety and security, which is always our paramount objective.

Just smile and say fuck off as you walk by them when they try to shake u down. It's literally what I do when some hero tries to stop me from taking hotel towels to the beach. Works like a charm.

If the policy is that they charge a joiner fee unless you pay their highest rate for the rooms, then it's very possible that they will actually enforce this.

That's exactly what I meant with my post, this 'well just don't do it' tough guy answers are misleading so just stop. When newbies go to Pattaya they should be aware that this hotel charges a high joiners fee and no it's not ' those heroes' trying to stop you, its the members of their staff following their companies policies and I would never say "fuck off" to someone in the hospitality industry because I'm not an asshole.

Or can you can except that they have a joiners fee and find a hotel that doesn't instead of verbally abusing the staff of a hotel who are just following their policies.

not to mention if You become an asshole (as a newbie in a foreign land) then the locals, especially the police can match you toe to toe, and then all of a sudden your ego will deflate like a balloon and reality will set in.

tough guy attitude works, until it doesnt. especially not recommended in SE Asia, where things can & do go wrong time to time.

Much better & EASIER to understand & obey rules that apply to everyone. Save that "we're not gonna take it" attitude for another time & place.

An update for whoever has questions regarding joiner fees at the Avani. I've stayed at this hotel for 5 days and brought back my bf every night without an issue. We just walked straight to the elevator, passing the reception area and no-one said a word. So yeah, I think this hotel is as GF as any other hotels in Pattaya.

I've stayed here many times over the last five years.

Their written policy (every time someone emails them) is charging for joiners and no breakfast or pool access.

In reality I've never had an issue with joiners including swimming and breakfast (but I do book for 2), and never paid a joiner fee.

So I wouldn't worry about what they say in the email, it's probably to cover their ass with internal compliance.

Right, this is Pattaya, never has any problems with guests, especially these 5* hotels, as they want to keep you happy and come back.

Avani is very good, TF daytime, gogogirl nighttime, nobody says a word. I took my bf to breakfast, no problems, even when my room only booked for 1 (long term stay).

They just emailed me and said that to have a second guest, it's an extra 1,650 baht. That number amuses me because it's high and not a round number.

I stayed there once and had to get a letter from the manager confirming there would be no joiner fee , but guests unwelcome at the breakfast and pool was also in the email ...

too many other hotels to go to without jumping through hoops imo , I did enjoy the hotel though and went back several times to eat using the Eatigo app discounts

If it floats, flies or fucks It's probably cheaper to rent ...

I don't know why you still emailing them.  Time and again people have mentioned the actual street level policy is very different to their written email policy.

I didn't know that my emails affected you. I only trust my boots on the ground. Baraquda and Centara Azure didn't charge me for two ladies. Avani didn't charge me for one before, but I didn't give them a chance for two.

I just checked their website (no eMail contact), and there also appears a small popup window clearly saying:

No companion fees when book AVANI FLEXI PLUS BREAKFAST rate plan!

The difference between ADVANCE PURCHASE and FLEXI is roughly 800 Baht.

If it gives you peace of mind you could go for the higher rate as it also allows to cancel the booking which I consider quite important.

What annoys me is that your companion would (possibly) not be allowed to have breakfast ALTHOUGH you booked a double AND you assured the joiner fee is waived trough paying the higher FLEXI rate. Not that many girls go for the breakfast, they rather sleep till noon, but over time quite a few enjoyed it so I always wanna have that option.

It is not about the money but about the way me and my companion are getting treated - treated like someone unwanted!!

But as mentioned above maybe it is not that strict.

Also I wonder how you could claim that second breakfast once you book a double – only for those girls who check-in together with you? Instead of registering your LT as a guest you would have to check-in every single lady every night anew? No way.

The difference between sex for money and sex for free is that sex for money usually costs a lot less.

Plenty of great places that don't give grief with joiner fees and such.  Stupid policy.

Even the Banyan Tree in Bangkok did not give me grief...

Stayed in 2019 for three nights and there was no joiner fee, although this does not appear to be a written policy.  I did not check in my BF and was not asked too by the hotel staff.  I am not sure if this was an oversight.

This would be one of my preferred hotels except that the garden grounds seemed to be a breeding ground for mosquitos.  I was staying in one of the bungalows on the ground floor and every night they would make there way into the room.  Very annoying.

Tapaz I don't wish to offend in any way, that hotel is great as you know and the pool area is one of the nicest I have experienced in the world but your average bar girl won't appreciate it as much as you as she will not be made welcome ignored  and even looked down upon by the staff all done with that lovely Thai smile and the girl although feeling very uncomfortable and probably counting the hours when she can get the hell out will never tell you that. Same with taking your barfine to any of the top restaurants.

It's good to know that I should never book a room in the Avani - not that I ever have, but I have looked at it before.  So thanks for the advice guys.

However, I always book a room for 2 guests with a view to avoiding this sort of crap.  I don't mind the front desk new guest registration upon return to the hotel as that's a good security thing, not so much with an AGG babe but more with a freelancer.  When I stay at the Baywalk, they retain the TG's ID card until she leaves, and then phone the room to check everything's OK before handing it over.   But I would object to the additional fee charged by some hotels.  That's just pure BS.

That’s not my experience, though I grant you most girls don’t care where you’re staying.

One girl I’ve known for a very long time likes to come by with her two young kids to use the pool for the day while I’m in town … staff know who she is and she’s always been well taken care of.  Another enjoys staying there too and is one of the very few that’ll get up and join me for breakfast … again, never heard a peep from her about feeling unwelcome and she’s never suggested I stay anywhere else.

Only had one instance with a LB nearly ten years ago … something about a staff member offending her … a short discussion with the manager had it resolved on the spot and she enjoyed the rest of her stay.

As for top end restaurants … I would agree that most feel uncomfortable, but I’ve non-P4P friends who also feel uncomfortable because top end restaurants are generally beyond the scope of what they can afford and are used to … it’s more about their experience in the social hierarchy than whether they’re a bar girl or not.

With that said, I’ve had a few that can hold their own much better than most of the corporate and political cunts I’ve had to share dinner with.

Have stayed in the Hilton on the last two trips in the end. No joiners fee, no 'behind the smile condescension' from the staff, girls I took LT loved being around the pool area,...

Think it must be the Avani then that creates that atmosphere if the above is your experience.

Sadly covid viped out all my money. So will not be staying there in the near future.

No joiners fee for the Hilton, how the heck did you manage that? Or when you first checked in maybe you were together which would make more sense. It is a grey area I know but I was thinking more about random girls one might wish to take back during their stay.

The Hilton has no joiners fees. Not for one girl, not if you bring back 2,3,4... girls. Have you stayed there before? It's well known how relaxed they are on their stance of bringing girls over.

I stayed in Hilton for a few weeks totaled, and just stayed in Avani for 45 days in July. Hilton asked for girl's ID, Avani we just walked directly to the elevator and never had to stop. So for me, Avani wins in their guest friendly policy. Also, never suspect any attitude toward my bf from Avani staff. In fact, I really like their staff and service. Maybe since I don't bring back the trashy type helps a bit 555....

I never had anybody at the Hilton ask for IDs. I actually prefer that as it's more secutiry for you (as you just never know when taking a new girl to the room). From anybody else I talked to staying at the Hilton none were asked for the girls IDs so strange they asked you.

Where did they ask you for the girls IDs (which reception counter I mean)?
