Very sad news if bars/restaurants are closing at 9pm. Looks like not much chance of bars only opening soon.

I guess they won’t be changed to opening at midday?

The loss of two hours is better than losing the lot.

I know its shite but the bars need to stick to it and hope that way they change back to 11 pm soonish. If they all take the piss the chances of that will be reduced.

Apparently, some Soi 6 places are opening at 2pm starting today. Damn, I hate work.

I know some people are only concerned with alcohol sales. The converted to a restaurant bar, and actual restaurant can stay open past 9 pm, it's only that alcohol sales can't go on past 9 pm. It's not that everything is shutting down at 9 PM, you can still be out and about, they just aren't legally allowed to serve alcohol.

Not what I saw last night. Places were shutting down at 9. Of course, there's a transition here as authorities and venues have to reach an understanding.

That may well be. If a venue feels like there is no point to stay open if there is no alcohol, then closing early makes sense. But a forced closure at 9 PM is not what the order says.

Agreed. But that was still the sense I got. Again, though, there's some adapting ongoing here.

Things are changing all the time. What the order says and what's enforced is frequently different. AJ just confirmed in the Line group that places are being told to be closed and empty by 9pm tonight.

It seems to be how the BiB have interpreted it as they are telling bars it means "closed" at 9pm.

More confusion - as always.

Many bars are opening earlier so all is not lost, they are trying so get there early, make the most of it & have an early night if you must...

There does seem to be some confusion as to whether 9pm is to close or stop selling alcohol. The bar owners I have spoken to directly have all been to it is "closed at 9" but others may differ. Ibar is likely to be a place that will stay open until the BiB telol them to close + (I think) only the restaurant section of it is (officially) open at the moment although Im sure they are stretching that.

Compare it to the past...

Pre-COVID, "most" bars closed at 0300 and it was drink up and be gone. Is it worth risking a closure over what you want and what they allow...?

The 9pm closure saves a fortune in BF & LD. Bad for the bars; great for (at least some) customers 😉

Just like Cinderella, I like to be tucked up and in bed before midnight. So suits me just fine adjusting my time clock, and go out early.
