Trying out the Hilton in June

Realised that now I am old, poor, probably got lazy as well as left behind by tech, unless I win the lottery 555, I will never stay in the Hilton anywhere. All power to you guys that are coupon collectors, I suppose in my younger years I have done similar "bargain seeking" exercises and still do now by need to get value for money.

I do dislike the theme that in the forum it seems to be a competition, overburdening helpful researched information, yes I am an old fart but guys the contrasting information in this (and other threads), is it really helpful or a competition?

I'd agree with you 100%

A room with a view isn't important to me as I'm in Pattaya to have fun with friends and the ladies. A 1300 Baht room near my play area is good enough for me.

I just ran the following search in October:

Check in Oct. 18 for 4 nights = 194.000 points (45,000 for 1st 3; 59,000 for 4th)

Check in Oct. 18 for 5 nights = 195,000 points (45k for 1st 3, then 60k for 4th; 5th = 0 - so they screwed me on 4th night by tacking on an extra 1000 points.

You can click ont he rate breakdown and it will show you the night-by-night points required.

Hilton points are no longer based on a straight award chart - they now fluctuate with demand; however, each property has a max. I think the Pattaya Hilton max is 60,000.

You are correct they have variable pricing now. Tbh 60k doesn’t seem that bad their premier ones went up to like 500k points if not a million I think per night lol.

It also fluctuates on their rooms available, cancellations. I checked back daily to do another booking. And the dates with the “standard” lowest points rate changed all the time. The hotel I was looking at especially had the lowest rate for same week or the following week. I’d assume because they still had rooms available. So if you want to wait until the last minute you can probably snag them too. Although with travel to Thailand seeming to ramp up who knows maybe they will be booked up

Also does anyone know if you can plug in a laptop with hdmi to their tv? I vaguely remember brining a chrome cast previously and the tv os locked me out from accessing it.

My Amazon Firestick worked great when I was there last November and February.

The fact that the TV is on a wall mount that easily moves away from the wall makes it very easy to plug something into the HMDI slot.

Yea for sure. Thanks for the info. Hoping I can ditch bringing any monitor and use it as a second screen for work.

Thanks for that tip about clicking for the breakdown, I had not seen that.

I just booked the 2nd to 8th October using points - and 'low and behold', the 5th night did show up as 'free'
This is despite that, when I tried to book through the 'every 5th night free link' on the Hilton 'special offers' page it said "not available on these dates".

and yes, I am a Diamond till March 2023, so will have to see what they upgrade me to. Currently in a "King Deluxe - Ocean View"

As Diamond, they should bump you to an Executive floor (with lounge access) at a minimum.

Let us know how you go - photos even.

On a few occasions where I have been seriously upgraded I have had to ask what type of room they have put me in, because it has been so unusual (In Oz, not Thailand)

I'd hope so. The room I was in in 2019 was a little rough around some edges. Hopefully they used this slow period to do some deferred work.

during covid last year, they had a notice on the website that the suites / executive rooms were being renovated. i was mostly looking at the ocean front executive room (the 65sqm one). but they never posted any specifics and i don't think they changed a lot; if they even did anything at all.  but i haven't been back there yet, so maybe they did some small work.

Enjoyed a Hilton suite with a jacuzzi on the balcony a few weeks ago and thoroughly enjoyed it. As did the girls every night. Good value fun ...

I didn't notice overwhelming changes when I was there in February. Maybe some minor stuff?

FYI for those in the US with AmEx Membership Rewards accounts...  AmEx is running a 30% transfer bonus to Hilton Honors so 1 AmEx Membership Reward points transfers to 2.6 Hilton Honors points through Sept 30.    This is a solid value for those who get utility out of Hilton points.   Yes, Amex has run 40% bonuses in the past but it's been a couple years now.

If you have the AmEx Hilton Aspire card you get Diamond status and the 5th night free when booking with points.   Tack on the value of the free breakfast, lounge access and room upgrades for Diamonds and this is a great deal in my opinion.

Just transferred a bunch of points and used some to book the Hilton Pattaya in January.   Always wanted to stay there and can now make it happen without overpaying.   Areca has always been home base in Patts so stepping up a bit.  😎

This is all very helpful for people with Hilton status or points to burn. Why even comment in a thread about an expensive hotel if all you're going to do is be sour about the comments of people discussing how to stay there on a slighlty better deal?

I've stayed at the Hilton last two trips, can definitely recommend as it's a fantastic property. Quite pricey of course and whenever eating/having a drink on the property you pay stupid prices for that as well.

All the girls I took back loved it but then again you pay them the money they want and another hotel would have done the trick as well of course so no point paying the Hilton price if all you're looking for is to impress the girls.

Great deals with Hilton Honors Points, Great hotel. Most amazing Breakfast. Poor Lounge, Very Girl Friendly. Great Pool

To be honest, I think most bloggers generally would rate it as a mediocre value for Honors points. It often goes for 60,000 points per night, which is bit steep (but the "5th night free" option brings the total down a bit).

That said, I tend to ignore "points valuations" of bloggers and focus on where I want to stay and how NOT to spend too much cash to do it!  Hilton usually fits right in (especially with annual free night certificates from credit cards).
