Jay62.....thanks, but are you sure of the 30 days if you are a United States citizen? The hotel emailed me that it was 14 days without some type of Thai granted Visa (for 30 or 60 days).....and I thought I recalled that those little white entry/exit cards had 14 days on them?

Thanks

TG

Yeah, been around a dozen times, also from the states.

They stamp you in at the airport and the exit date is put into your passport stamp. You get 30 days.

If you arrive over land you will get 14 days.

If you arrive Thailand at an international airport in you will get 30 days.

+1 DK has this absolutely correct.

^ MrDK has this close to correct. It is actually 15 days by land.

From Thaivisa.com

Effective immediately, travelers without visa will get only 15 days of stay if they are arriving via a land border checkpoint from a neighboring country.

You are correct.

If I really wanted to argue the point I could say that it indeed is 14 days because arrival and a departure day both count.

Then again I would loose the argument about the 30 day exemption as that would become 29 days. 5555

As I said you are right, I just wanted to convey the point that when figuring your max stay with or without visa this is how the Thai government calculates the stay.

I can also confirm that the period is 30 days for a US citizen when you arrive by air. My last two trips were for 30 days. You may also be able to extend the period with a border run.

Guys, thanks for clearing that up for me......wanted to stay right around 14 days, but was unsure of length that I oculd legally stay without hassle of going to another country for VISA and back.......I am now enlightened!!

You can also apply for a 60 day tourist visa at your local Thai consulate, but usually only the real lubbed-up guys go for that haha!
