Hi,

Long story short I just had a condom break during a ST and her response to asking if she was tested was blank to say the least.

My current plan is to day trip to Bangkok first thing at 7am tomorrow to the Thai Red Cross centre for PEP. But does anyone know alternative options in Pattaya to avoid this?

Thanks.

Why are people so lost. Go to the next hospital, they'll set you up. Not a shitty mom & pop clinic, but hospital.

E.g. Pattaya Memorial Hospital  or Bangkok Pattaya Hospital

Never argue with an idiot, they drag you down to their level and then beat you with experience.

Greetings,

I would also recommend Thai Red Cross HIV and STD clinic, I forgot their actual name of the clinic but it's associated with Chulalakorn Hospital and medical school. Therefor, you can receive comprehensive HIV and STD testing and various vaccination at a reasonable cost! Also, comprehensive panel for liver, kidney and cholesterol profile are available!

slightly old and might not be relevant anymore: https://www.xn--2-uwfi8em0a3a0a7hmzb.com/ [not a spam url, it's just a thai url and that's the english representation]:

"pattaya 2 internal medicine clinic" gives you PreP in pattaya. I assume you can also get PeP there. It's (much) more expensive than thai red cross, but it's of course much easier and you save the trip (and costs) to bangkok.

I'd be more worried about pregnancy than an STD.  You have a vasectomy?

Never had a condom break as I almost always use lube, unless the girl is very wet already.  If she is not wet, then intercourse is not pleasurable for her or you without lubrication IMO.  Of course you need the right size condoms as well.  Most sizes available now at local 7-11 or even better selection on Lazada

Get the big bottle with the easy pump top

Old thread but maybe somebody will find it useful. Condom broke with a girl on 007 in Soi Bongkoch. I forgot my own condoms stupidly and was pretty dry. Condom broke and I noticed blood. Normally I am not too scared but the blood worried me. It happened before last year and I developed symptoms including a skin rash. When the doctor back home told me that was a viral skin rash I nearly passed out. Happened to be Dengue Fever and not HIV in the end. The symptoms are actually not that different if you don't know what you are dealing with.

So this time I decided to get PEP even though risk should be not that high.

Pattaya international Hospital prescribed it and the cost was 3150 in total including consultation fees. They did not do any lab work which I found very unprofessional and also the doctor seemed to be not competent. But as I get blood work regularly at home I went with it. So if you are sure you don't need the lab tests that's a cheap option in Pattaya to get PEP, and maybe PreP?

@John194 Wait... so you paid 3150 and just got the pills? No bloodtest nothing? And they didnt ask you to show any proof of previous testing either?

and are you sure you didnt get PREP? (thats to prevent HIV)... PEP is medication when you already got it...?

That's right. And that's what I thought too so I sat down before leaving the hospital and googled everything. I got Acriptega and apparently that's for PEP and can't be used for PreP. It is also used for treatment but apparently that's what is also the newest option for PEP. I know it is crazy but I went with it because I was already there and my research confirmed it is the correct medication. It was super unprofessional and I had the feeling I would be the better Doc instead of her. I was considering returning the meds and just paying the consultation but the I figured out I can do the normally required blood work elsewhere

So 3K down the drain... no test and got the wrong pills... ouch

What a stupid answer. If you really want to help me please explain why you think the pills are wrong. I found multiple papers that state that "Dolutegravir, lamivudine and tenofovir disoproxil fumarate" is a drug which is used for PEP and has no disadvantages to other combinations. If you are smarter then me I would be happy to understand why it's the wrong meds. It would help more than your one line comment. PEP is used after having been exposed to a possible HIV positive partner. Again as I said I am not happy with the process but still got the correct meds in my opinion. Even with blood tests it would have been still the same meds

The reason why they didn't do any lab work is because HIV is undetectable the next day of a possible exposure and you need to take PEP ASAP, preferably within a 24hr window.

That's not the reason. They do it because if you already have HIV unknowingly the treatment must be different, especially for Prep as using Prep having HIV already might cause resistance leading to HIV meds not working properly later. Some drugs used for PEP actually are also used for treatment, so in this case it should be no risk.

However you also need to test kidney and liver function as using Prep/PEP with an active hepatitis requires special precautions
