Go to the nearest Thai consulate in your country. Ask for a one year, multiple entry (90days) type 'O' visa.

Reason is to visit friends.

Best if you have a Thai address/lease but not 100% esential.

Phone them first, they are helpfull and will advise

So you want to live in Isaan?   Tale of a journey started 1973 with a stepfather, arrive 2004, "Wife in Issan" 2017.......    ..            An unplanned, unknown and unforeseen  journey spanning 51 years ending well  !!

I've .... seen things ..... you people would never believe...............

In the UK yes, but anywhere else you will need alot more paperwork and some money in the bank.

We are lucky in the UK to have this, any other nationality I have spoken to do not.

You need money in the bank for a retirement visa, the O visa you don't. in the U.S. I went to the Thai Consolate and got a O visa single intry, for 60 bucks. The multy intry O visa I think was 175. USD good for a year.

Thats why I advise phoning the consulate?

Took for granted poster lived in the UK.

I have renewed my visa 4 times now in Cardiff, they have moved location and the entry is now, down an alleyway/courtyard about 80 yards away from previous. Told by "Dave" who does the visas that he could do me a retirement visa next time with no problems.

Cannot understand why the UK should be this helpful and not other countries??
