Hi, My flight arrives at 7:30 am next month and I will need to change some cash at the airport to tide me over. Are the currency exchanges open at that time as I am really keen to avoid buying baht here at criminally low rates before I leave the UK?

Yes, but change just enough for you to get into town. The rates for TCs at the airport are comparable to the ones in Patts, but I've found some of the rates for cash are lower at the airport.

Just use the ATM in bag claim. Rates are pretty much the same as any ATM in Pattaya.

ATM is the best advice. Easiest and will most likely get the same rates, but again; Just enough to get into town.

Using an ATM card issued from a British bank will always be about 2 bhat less than the usual bureau/booth rate. I know I use it every month.

If you only need to have enough cash to get to Pattaya I'd suggest changing cash at the airport. There are exhanges between immigration and the baggage carousels.

Thanks guys. I only need enough to get there. Local agents here are giving about 45 to the £ at the minute and I believe its around 50 to the £ in Thailand at the minute.

Lust change enough money for 1.2/2 days and you will be allright.

 

If you change money st the airport (BKK) you might lose a couple of bucks but nothing to write home about, better than changing at home.
