uk banks

when you leave the uk , you don't have a residence in the uk . what bank do you use . which is best for paying your money in from pensions . best to transfer to Thailand .  .

?? Been using my UK bank for receipt of pensions and transfers to Thai bank account for 20 years - never a problem.

thanx for that, as i wondering if they send you a new bank card , but you don't  reside there anymore ..as i would be worried, someone got hold of this card , start using it ,

My new cards are sent to Thailand by registered post.  Cards are only activated after the bank has called me and found my responses to its security questions satisfactory.

It's not as simple as leaving the the UK - never is when governments and your money is involved. You can leave the UK and still have residence as far as the government is concerned.

Some uk banks will not send your cards to Thailand Natwest and Halifax are 2. HSBC will.

cheers for that . are they any bank charges per monthly . i got a barclays account,  so maybe need to open a new bank account .

I assumed the OP meant he didn't have a house in the UK anymore to have post delivered to, rather than becoming non-resident for UK tax purposes, which as you say, isn't as simple as just living outside the UK

Probably best to open a 2nd account anyway as it's alot easier to do while you're in the UK still.

Lloyds and HSBC are two I know that have no problems sending physical bank cards out to addresses overseas. You can also change your mobile to an international number (so sms security prompts for internet or mobile banking can be received without keeping a UK number active or roaming).
