Review of Kudo Beach Club, Patong

This resort is right on the beach, just a two minute walk to Soi Bangla.  The room had two large screen TVs, mini-kitchen with microwave and coffee maker (4 cartridges per day), and a FREE minibar that was restocked daily and included two cans of Singha Beer.

Primarily a place for the younger crowd, DJs played music until 11 PM and anyone could come and use the pool for the price of a drink.  However, during covid there were very few people around.

The balcony featured a large Jacuzzi with an sea view if you looked over the pool.  Room rate was 2100, without breakfast, and there was no joiner fee.

I went out for breakfast and there was nothing open.

I ended up having breakfast at the resort for 500 baht and it was way too much food for me.

Even in the evening, almost nothing was open, even most of the 7-11s were closed.  Fortunately, Savoey Seafood was nearly across the street and I had my meals there, although the resort also had an Italian restaurant.  Savoey offered at 10% covid discount even though they had little competition.

Soi Bangla in the early evening, around 9:30 PM on a Friday night.

Fortunately, Sweetie Bar was open, also Suzi Wongs GoGo, so I spent most of my time there.

The front desk at Kudo were very helpful.  I had booked a taxi to the pier for a speedboat to Ko Phi Phi, which didn't arrive on time, and they helped straightened it out.  I expect the Kudo Resort was a lively place pre-covid.

Great review and pics! I'm planning on staying there at the end of July so it's nice to get a more up to date look at it.

+1 from me. Stayed there in late January in that exact room. The pool parties were packed at that time.

When were you staying there? To my knowledge all bars & bangla etc is still fully closed right now, no? So was this before the most recent lockdown? Or did it already re-open?

lol, i wanted to write exactly the same... stayed at kudo as well for quite some time in january, including nearly the end of it. hehe
i think i stayed in the room next to the one of OP.

fwiw: i booked via Agoda first (was under 1500 for the first few days). then the manager told me to just book directly with them, he'll give me 10% discount on Agoda rate (instead of them having to pay the comission... better for everyone). So that's what i did from there on out. hotel got more expensive in February (and in April, sometimes over 2500 / night), so i stayed at other places.

pool parties: it was very quiet at the beginning of january. then really heated up towards the end of the month and in february.

here two more pics (great sunsets) and a short video from one of their tuesday pool parties:

I'm getting the Beach Suite so I'm pretty excited that I'll be getting to see this view every day. Appreciate a video of the pool area too.

fwiw: all rooms pictured in this thread are beach suites. they are not really on the beach.
even the beachfront suites are (afaik) not directly at the beach. you don't really get sunset views from any room afaik (but maybe some rooms are better for it in the building C).

i still really like the place, as long as the room prices are not too high. restaurant ist good too (but pricy) and they have shisha all day long, in case that plays a role for you.

Thanks for the review. This popped up on Agoda as I was looking for a place in July. Hopefully the plan for no quarantine goes through and I can come there for a week. I stayed at The Bloc hotel down the road from it prior and though it was awesome, this looks a bit better and I've seen videos of the parties they have there which are pretty dope. The location is awesome, but still have not booked anything yet due to a combo of waiting on news about the no quarantine plan and looking at maybe staying at a villa.

In regards to the no quarantine plan, I can confirm that the hotel will be applying for SHA Plus once the authorities reveal the exact criteria for it on Friday, June 4th.

Seems any hotel that wants to allow tourists to stay will need the SHA+ stamp of approval. I emailed one of the villas out in Kata and they said they will be on the approved SHA+ list. So for a short stint, I will probably stay out that way since I have never done so and it's looking like no visit to phi phi or any other place will be allowed for me since I won't be there for more than 14 days. Not even sure what would be open around that time, but hopefully a few of the bars will be. Looking at google maps, seems to be about a 20 minute drive, traffic depending, from Kata to Bangla.

Just looked at Agoda and hotels are advertising the SHA+ approval on some of their pictures. For what it's worth.
