Any info on view talay 6 with internet, room safe, under 18,000 baht long term (yearly) or am I dreaming?

Or is this a dumb idea and I should go inland, get a scooter and pay 10 k for long term condo with internet?

How essential is a pool to deal with the heat?

Is being a night owl a good strategy for dealing with the heat? Sleep when it's hot and monger when it's less hot?

If a condo doesn't have a safe can I just up and buy a heavy one and drag it home?

I plan to retire there by June but not sure what I should plan for. The closest I can get to the water seems to make sense as I think it's prettier and maybe a breeze at night plus it seems silly to live in a coastal community and not be on the coast.

Sorry I don't have the entertaining pictures just loads of newbie type questions. But any feedback is appreciated and will be noted when/if I'm in a position to cover a round.

I'm struck by what a nice guy Charlie of Canterbury Tales seems to be so maybe I should stay there a month and get my bearings and sort it all out. What sayeth the purveyors of the collective tropical wisdom?

I plan to live on 3 yankee k a month. According to what I've read here, I should be able to rent some companionship and eat, drink and be merry. (or am I dreaming?)

Thanks.

The information I have seen on Talay 6 is 25,000 per month. I don't know if that includes furnishings.

I did quite a bit of looking at VT6 last trip...both rental and purchase...a lot will depend on whether you want a studio, 1bedroom, 2bedroom, etc...and also if you want a low floor with little or no view, or a high floor with a great city/sea view.

Based on all the research I did, $3,000/m should be ok...you wont be livin like a millionaire, but you will live well if you dont go out drinking in gogos every night and ringing bells...but there are a lot of variables.

I think if I were doing it, i would do just as you suggested...find a good spot to rent for a month or two and do a bit of searching around once you are there...if you are goin in June, im willing to bet you will find TONS of good deals...believe me when I say that the world economy isnt gonna rebound for at least a year...and im also speculating that the US dollar will continue to rise against the baht.

Hope that helps, cheers, alex

Yep, I justbooked with Dancewatcher..Guys name is Michael and the rooms really look the bollocks!..studio for a month is 25k plus electricity..per day is 1300, incl elec.. the studio is 48sqm!! 42" plasma screen tv, surround sound theatre system, etc..one of the best rooms iv seen, and right on beach road.

The 1 bedroom is 96 sqm and that is 2300/night incl electricity or 38000/month plus elec..

he also has a penthouse suite there!..

Every action has an equal and opposite reaction - "it was just the internet.." is not an excuse.

:Bravo1:

Just got back today, spent last two weeks in one of Dancewatchers studio rooms on 18th floor, 1300 a night inclusive, 25000 a month plus. 5 star quality room, but overlooks the new mall and Hilton hotel being built, so not a great view and that's a good point about the noise from the malls aircon vents on the top, sounds like a jet engine.

So really a Walking Street side is best and there are plenty available but 25000 seems the usual price, great location though, just a short walk to Soi 7 and 8, and you can access building from both Second Road and Beach Road.

There is an onsite agency www.Condo6.com who have a selection of rooms available in the building for rent.

Recently stayed in the 1 bedroom (non Walking Street side) room. 38000 a month which included utilities but obviously not room cleaning (factor in 600b from the girls downstairs each time - can certainly add up for a month long stay)

Concur with other posters about noise levels. Had to have doors closed and air con on at all times due to noise from huge industrial air cons on the roof of Central Festival Mall. Construction on the Hilton only added to the noise (often 24hrs a day)

Room itself was good, the bathroom being particularly nice with great water pressure and a 6 person shower! Location is great of course and helps overcome some of the other issues associated with VT 6

I've rented from dancewatcher my first trip. He always took care of anything I needed and was trustworthy. The second trip I rented from a Thai woman who owns the massage parlor there. I was told that there was internet in the room and found out I had to pay extra when I got there. Many problems and she left to go to her village without giving me my deposit back, charged me for a full month when I left early. Thought I would be saving money but found out it wasn't worth it. If I go back and rent a condo again, it will be from dancewatcher.
