Sick in paradise

Recommended Posts

Yesterday morning woke up feeling fresh and had a bit of breakfast, eggs, steak, sausage, beans, tomatoes & steamed rice. Everything tasted good then went on a 4 hour trip to ride some elephants which was just ok. On the way back to the hotel my stomach starts to bother me and continues to get really bad... until finally I start puking non stop for about 20 minutes. This was yesterday now today I havent puked but feel sore all over and have a slight temp. I will only be here in Phuket until Sunday and really dont want to be stuck in the room the whole time feeling like shit.... any recomendations would be appreciated....

thanks

Most likely it was something you ate or drank. My advice if you want to minimize your recovery time see a doctor it's not going to cost very much either the local hospital or ask at your hotel if they know a good doctor.

You should probably go to a doctor and see if you have the flu. At any rate, going out when you feel like this will only make it worse. My guess is that if it is not the flu you may have suffered some type of food poisoning.

keep your fluids, water, up and rest, sorry that means more time in your room!

if you've stopped throwing up and have a mild fever i wouldn't worry to much

if it get worse then see a doc.

a lot of the time the thai doc will give you countless pills that are mostly a waste of money. (IMO)

In LOS, I've had food poisoning and flu-like more than I care to remember. As everyone has said, see a doctor ASAP. The longer you delay medical help, the longer you'll be miserable and stuck in your room. BTW, good medical service is a fraction of what it costs in America.

Dont delay...Head straight to the Patong Hospital. Have them hook u up to a Fluid IV and Antibiotics. They can do a quick stool check and urine analysis. Within a few hours you will feel like a new man.

Very inexpensive too. Last time it happend to me I headed to a hospital and got treatment fast. Within 4 hrs I was feeling all better. Cost approximately 2,000 baht including everything.

No need to drag it all out. Treat it and get better quickly so u can enjoy your vacation!

thanks all for your suggestions, I went to Bangkok Phuket hospital and saw a doctor he prescribed some antibotics and some other meds and he also suggested that i spend the night in the hospital to get rehydrated... I figured that I would be ok with the pills and all of the electrolites for my drinking water. WRONG.... the next day it came back with a vengenance so I went back to the hospital and was admitted hooked up to iv and looked after by many nurses and my GF that is with me from the Philippines. I am still a little under the weather but hopefully have turned the corner on this... man it sucks.. I am back in Bangkok for 2 days then to the PI for a couple of days.

How have you been Slick? are you in Thailand now? I havent been active on the other web site for probably 6 months now anyway its nice to know that you have my back again... take care and hope our paths cross again

i carry ciprofloxacin with me at all times when travelling. it'll fix you up in a jiffy if it's a bacterial thing which it usually is.
