Do Thai ISP's pick up overseas SIMs?

When I am home in Oz, I am able to receive OTP's from my Thai accounts, ie: Bangkok Bank and AIS.  It can take over five minutes, but Telstra or Vodaphone will pick my AIS sim (after I have enabled AIS in my dual sim phone settings).

TG in Adelaide is having to return to Chiang Mai area soon, for perhaps over a year.  Yesterday, we tacked on two years to her Oz sim.

Big question is:- Will she be able to enable her Oz sim (from time to time) in Thailand and have a Thai ISP pick it up?  This would only be for checking SMS's...

Hoping for confirmation from those who have had it work for them.  (Never tried myself on my trips, but expect the overseas SIM pickup would be similar to Oz, where it works for me).

Thanks for any replies...
