For the lucky ones actually in Pattaya.

The first I’ve seen is a traditional Scandinavian Christmas Eve Table at Akvavit:

Bookings where a deposit is required will go down like a lead balloon...if anyone,s actually silly enough to pay one in these times......

I can’t imagine any restaurant will not require this. If they are putting on an expensive spread they can’t have people making bookings and then not turning up.

It’s likely people will wait until nearer the time before booking but I expect a number of places will struggle to find the customers this Christmas.

As for Akvavit, there is a sizeable Scandinavian community in Jomtien and there’s usually a large influx over the Winter of more Scandinavians that spend a few months there each year. They’re largely well-off retirees so I expect most will still travel.

A Taste of Norway is also doubt a Christmas Eve buffet but hasn’t announced a price yet. I guess the Scandinavians will choose between them. Another Scandinavian restaurant did open during my last visit, opposite Nathan’s, but it didn’t seem well run so I’d be surprised if it’s still there.

Christmas Eve at A taste of Norway on December 24, 2020.
Welcome to celebrate Christmas Eve at A taste of Norway. There will be buffet like last year with lots of traditional Norwegian food as well as some Thai food. The price is 1350 Thb this year and we want a deposit of 500 Thb per person together with your booking for the evening. Maximum of 80 guests and only 1 table setting from 18.00 onwards - possible possibility of ′′ drop in ′′ throughout the evening if anyone wants to take a chance on this.
If you want to eat Lutefisk on Christmas Eve, this needs to be ordered in advance - this does not change the price but is because it is very expensive in purchasing that we want to know the number of portions to be prepared.

Tickets are 500 Baht.
