I visit Lopburi, Thailand which is famous for it's local Monkey Mafia. I found them to be very curious but well fed by the locals and friendly even if a bit over enthusiastic. There are so many of them it has to be seen to be believed.

I visit Prang Sam Yod and Phra Kan Khmer style ruins which is the home of the Lopburi Monkey Mafia. The locals believe that the monkeys are the disciples of Phra Kan, a spirit that protects the city of Lopburi. I also take a ride on a Samlor, a traditional bicycle taxi that is quite rare these days and make a few observations on the changing times in Thailand.

Tak Province Thailand is the location of our hike up the highest mountain in Tak Province. This adventurous but fun hike was completed recently by myself and Brian of "Baldy Brian Family Adventure" YouTube Channel. Kao Pramuan rises to a height of 540 meters (1771 feet above Tak city center.

Although we tackled it midday during the Hot Season it's a great hike that can easily be done as a day trip. There are some adventurous sections as you reach the summit but we think it could be completed by most people of at least average fitness

This is the reason why I love Thailand, Khao No, if you fall you die.  I go back to one of my favourite destinations in the whole of Thailand. This exciting place can be 'done' in a morning or afternoon.

It's a fantastic mountain and in the evening you can watch millions of bats fly from their cave filling the sky with swirly streams. If you think you've done everything in Thailand then think again.

Life in Thailand as an expat could make you crazy if you're an emotionally reactive person. I make some cultural observations gained through having spent time in Thailand either as a tourist or as a resident for every year in the past 34 years.

Ultimately most people find Thailand a rewarding Country in which to live but there are cultural differences that have to be bridged psychologically as well as in the 'real' World. I try to make light hearted but fair observations on some of the key differences.

I go on a Jurassic Hell Hike in Khao Sam Roi Yot National Park - I thought that I would never see the sky again ! Armed with only a random gps route file downloaded from the internet. It turns into an adventurous and entertaining day out, perhaps more adventurous than anticipated but myself and Baldy Brian still find time for some laughs along the trail.

Myself and Baldy Brian take a hike to Krok-E-Dom waterfall, Khao Yai, Thailand and before we know it we're taking casualties.

Krok-E-Dok Waterfall on the Western side of Khao Yai National Park is quite a popular adventure hike that requires the use of ropes for safety reasons. The National Park usually maintains the trail and offers guided hikes in groups but at this time it is not in general use and the trail is becoming overgrown, not to mention the extensive damage caused by herds of Wild Elephants on the trail's lower levels.

Armed with the gps tracks for the trail we attempt the hike on a rainy day finding it tougher than we anticipated.

Myself and Baldy Brian hike up a small mountain (In Kwaen) only 10km outside of Kanchanaburi, Thailand. In Kwaen mountain is virtually unknown amongst tourists but it's a great little day hike within easy distance from Kanchanaburi town centre on a motorcycle or even a tuk tuk or motorcycle taxi.

It starts at Wat Khao Chong Sadet and ends up by a strange rock that seems to be precariously balanced at the top of the mountain. 'Kwaen' means to be suspended in Thai language. The trail starts off easy enough but ends in an exciting scramble near the top.

I live in rural Central Thailand and get to see aspects of Thailand that Thailand only locals usually see. On my daily walks I regularly see giant Monitor Lizards and snakes, even deady cobras.

For a while now I have taken pictures and videos of the interesting and beautiful things that I see while on my walks. I have put them all together for this video which covers everything from authentic Thai rural life to stunning scenes of nature and yes...snakes and giant lizards.

Baldy Brian and I almost felt that we are not worthy on this spectacular and beautiful hike, Heaven on Earth in Kanchanaburi Thailand.

Chaloem Rattanakosin National Park is usually overlooked but it could be Kanchanaburi's best kept secret. This steep but rewarding and attainable hike takes you through two incredibly beautiful caves, one at the top and one at the bottom, it also takes you through beautiful forest alongside a small, unspoiled river.

You won't believe your eyes, this hike is a constant feast to your senses.

I have hiked up Khao Ngon Nak once before but this time I had to ask would I hike up through the forest in the dark to get possibly the best view in Thailand?

Myself and Nick Dean of NDTVI Pattaya awoke at 3am and hiked up the steep mountain in the dark with constant rain. It was quite a test of our resolve but the efforts eventually paid off with stunning early morning views.

Nick had never hiked in the jungle before…what could go wrong ? 😉😆 Khao Yai National Park in Thailand has some great hikes, this was ours. I’m a YouTuber, get me out of here!

Fantastic!!! LOL to the nth power watching the vid. I haven't laughed this hard in a long time.

I was a bit worried when you got off trail as it's easy to get turned around and lost in the jungle, but then saw you had the foresight to bring a GPS along so all good.

We run jungle trails in the Hash House Harriers, so can fully appreciate how difficult that trail was. PM me if you're ever in the Pattaya area and I'd be happy to introduce you to the PH3.

After watching your video had a look at Nick's. Equally hilarious to see it from his POV. What cracked me up even more is in your vid the audio was unedited, but on Nick's he bleeped out the bad words. At one point it was just a string of bleeps. :D

Thanks again for the video, made my day. Hope you don't mind me linking to Nick's video.

Another excellent video Karl. You'd be by far the best YouTuber out there. The 4K HDR Dolby Vision was great.

Nick certainly won't be claiming to be ex-special forces after that video. Hikes need the right clothes, trainers & ankle socks are no use. The falang fee being ten times the Thai fee was fairly steep.

Special maybe but definitely not special forces 555.  He should have taken a hiking stick with him to help with balance on muddy and hilly ground.

Excellent video Karl.

Nick was hilarious but also  illustrated the issues very well.

Much as I like a good walk I'm definitely striking jungle hikes off the list.

People say to me "Pattaya is like Sodom and Gomera"

I say "it's not at all like that"

"Sodom and Gomera were mere prototypes, whereas Pattaya......"

Thanks, I know most of those trails at Khao Yai pretty well and always take my GPS with the tracks loaded but it’s still easy to get off trail, especially as the trails haven’t been used much this past 18 months and even 10m off trail in thick jungle can be a long way. Elephant damage constantly blocks the trails in Khao Yai requiring diversions.

Nick might complain and cuss a bit on our missions but he’s game and doesn’t sulk afterwards and has actually lead quite an adventurous life…….just not recently lol.

I like the social side of the Hash Harriers but gave up running about 4 years ago, I prefer walking these days.

Glad you liked the video, Nicks reaction certainly added a comedy element lol. I was laughing to myself even as we were hiking.

Yes,  Nick’s horror definitely added some comedy to the video.

The jungle is definitely a more hostile place in the Rainy Season, especially insect and leech wise.

Glad you enjoyed it.

Wat Pha Tak Suea is a spectacular Temple with incredible views and a small but stunning Sky Walk. It’s situated near the beautiful town of Sangkhom which is on the Mekong River opposite Laos.

I recently travelled with Nick Dean of NDTVI Pattaya and we wanted a nice place to film near to Nong Khai where we were staying. It’s less than 90 minutes from Nong Khai and a fantastic drive along a scenic road that follows the river.

Later that evening we took a stroll along the riverside and stopped off at the Irish Bar and Restaurant, one of the friendliest places in town. While we were there Nick was challenged to a game of Pool….with a difference! You won’t believe what you are seeing.
