I'm arriving too late for a cheap bus to Pattaya. What do you recommend?

I don't have the heart to pay 1200+ for a late night taxi to Pattaya. After a long flight, I'd rather just go get some sleep in Bangkok. Then get back to the Airport in the morning to take the B90 bus into Pattaya. But what's the cheapest, quickest way to go about this? Are there buses or cheap taxis to Bangkok after midnight? I don't need a fancy place to sleep. Just some place reasonably quiet and very close to the airport. Also, Some have said the buses start leaving the Eckamia terminal at 5:30 AM. Some have said it's not till 8AM. Is there a website that can tell me for sure?

Thanks

By the time you pay for the taxi from and back to the airport and the room in Bangkok it would be cheaper to go straight to Pattaya.

I guess you be missing all the action that will be taking place in Patts in order to save 1200baht...Juz get the taxi, get 2hrs of sleep on your ride..check in to your hotel..change up and get down to WS to unleash the dragon...

I agree... It is possible to get cheap rooms in bkk but I doubt you will find one close to the airport. I know the novotel airport hotel charges 7,000 baht per night!

If I were you I would just hit the road and get some sleep while your at it.

Of course I would take the taxi at any hour and head straight to Pattaya!

You could hit Soi Cowboy and stay at the very affordable "Penny Black" !!! :P

Find someone else or 2 thats on the plane and also heading to Pattaya and split the taxi fare. There has got to be someone on the plane heading to Pattaya also.

If u cant find someone on the plane u can always try at the airport. Gotta be someone heading to Pattaya to share a taxi with.

Jeezzze! Got to be a wind up!

Never pay less than 1500B myself.

I'd pay double that to get back there tomorrow.

My Pattaya budget is perfectly adequate as long as I don't spend any of it

eanto, no I always pay 1200 baht with Mr Toom. Silverslug, I also hate having to fork out for a taxi when I can use the 200 baht Bell travel bus but its really isnt worth paying a couple of hundred baht to taxi to bkk, then a room (probably 700+) and then the BTS to ekkamai and another bus to pattaya then a songtauw to your hotel. it actually will cost you the same, or more and you just delay the start of your holiday. Like everyone says, get the taxi

Hi biggles! I've heard good things about Mr Toom. We need people like him. BTW, I was in the UK RAF, are you the original biggles? :GoldenSmile1:

taxi to bkk-300-400, room-??? iknow of 175 a night guest houses on soi sri bumphen but not sure you could be guaranteed a room available. you can take a taxi to hotel malaysia, corner of soi ngam du plee and soi sri bumphen. almost all taxis will know malaysia hotel. walk down soi sri bumphen to first intersection, turn left 50 meters to lee 4 guest house. in morning take 150bht taxi to ekamai and 119 bht bus to pattaya. add all that up and the hassle included and....i'd go straight to pattaya.

Mate if u are in need desperately to save the money for a taxi ride I would reccommend jogging to Patts - nothing better to wake u up and get the blood pumping and circulation going after a long flight :Laugh1:

Every action has an equal and opposite reaction - "it was just the internet.." is not an excuse.

Should get into Pattaya just in time to Jog back to catch the flight home. This will save on beer, hotel bills and going wi da ladies also. Dayum that is a cheap holiday, mind you, will need food, water and a spare pair of sneakers.

ive said in other threads that i think the 1000-1200 baht for a taxi from BKK to Pattaya is worth every baht...because i come from the states, it seems i always arrive after the last bus.

up to the last trip, i used to spend a couple of days in BKK at Majestic Suites on the front of every trip just to unwind and go to Nana, but now i hate BKK and so my last trip and all future trips i will just be heading straight to pattaya from the airport on arrival.

like others have said, by the time you pay for taxi to/from the airport and loom in bkk, same same as just taking taxi that night.

cheers, alex
