Hotel reviews and experiences

When I joined Pattaya addicts, I did it like most people to find out first hand information about the destination, and very informative it is.

However I asked the question has anyone had experience of a particular hotel, Mike hotel (2nd road not far from Walking Street). No one appeared to have personal experiences of this particular hotel.

Here comes the rub, reading the reviews on Booking.com, Agoda and trip advisor gives you reviews that can be tainted, and this proved to be true. So I thought I would put up a thread where people could post their experiences of their accommodation.

So here is mine on Mike hotel.

I chose this hotel for varying reasons, all the rooms had baths (I do like to relax in a nice warm bath at the end of a day, the price was in my budget £20 per night at time of booking, so not the cheapest but certainly not the most expensive, the pictures on booking.com showed quite high end spacious rooms (I'll come back to this later) and the location is great for strolling up and down Walking Street and the coconut bar .

Location, Mike hotel is above  Mike shopping mall and is fantastic for Walking Street which is great if very loud night clubs are your thing. This however brings it's own issues if you are on the top 2 floors, kiss goodbye to any sleep before 4 a.m. it is LOUD.

The rooms, OK my first night was on the top floor of the hotel an as mentioned I could not get any sleep, also the room was nothing like the pictures on Booking.com (they may have changed this by now) so in the morning I went to reception to change rooms, and the best part of the hotel revealed itself, the staff. After checking my booking and Booking.com they immediately set about changing my rooms and showed me 2 rooms both of which were the same as on the web site, and crucially 2 floors down which proved to be a lot quieter, after all you need your sleep to monger, no point in under performing because you are knackered 

The room I moved to was large, with a huge bed (Thai style so quite firm), TV fridge with mini bar, and probably the oldest aircon unit in Pattaya, but it did the job. No tea or coffee making facilities or safety box (safety box in reception for extra charge) 

The bathroom was very dated and had mould in the grouting and sealant, see the pictures below, but worst of all is the plumbing, in order to get hot water you have to run the tap for 15 minutes no exaggeration, Imagine bringing your latest acquisition back to the room and having to wait 15 minutes for a shower, OK if you are doing LT but eats into your time for ST. So not impressed with that.

My overall impression for this hotel is quite negative, for the money I would expect more, the real jewel for the hotel is the staff, they are so pleasant and helpful it is just a pity that the tool they are working with is in dire need of updating and improvements, so on the whole if you are looking at this place try to find somewhere better for the money, I am sure you can.
