Because they have imposed some very strict lockdown measures, and brought the virus under control.  Other countries are unwilling to take that short term pain.

Under control does not mean eliminated for China or any country.   Thailand beware of letting anyone, from any country in.

Countries who have learnt how to control the virus to the same extent as Thailand seems obvious candidates for possible tourism.

I think you have some blame, guilt idea in your head.  Tourist agencies don't think like you. They want the safest tourists.

 

Ofc, this is brought in order to benefit regional area tourism.. I mean, direct flights to Thailand from China and other nearby countries which are mentioned in the article

Same talks are happening here in Spain, as Germans want "bubble flights" to come over the Balear Islands and spend holidays

And you believe that China has controlled the virus....this is the same country that tried denying everything when it first kicked off.

The only sense in this matter is the fact that Thailand is desperate to get the Chinese back purely for economic reasons...

My understanding is that the Chinese never really spent that much. My guess is that the Thais would much rather have the Japanese and Koreans back.

Just for the record In the past few days they have started to announce new cases in Beijing !

Make of that what you will but based on history it’s probably only the iceberg tip.

Popular misconception due to Chinese whispers, bar talk and endless mindless Facebook cut 'n' pastes about flag followers.
The flag followers were just the first wave.

They were all over the GoGos before this and even bought a couple (Sugar Baby and Mandarin now renamed).
They are probably the future of Thailand's tourism industry and certainly more important than a few 'dirty farang'.
Japanese and Koreans also welcome in due course, as will be the Indians.

I guess this is why LOS is making it more difficult for farangs to retire there. It will now go for Chinese and Indians.

If it wasn't for the gambling laws here we wouldn't get a look in for Chinese.
They exited Sihanoukville when the online ban came in but are expected back big time in due course.

About your other post, yes they will probably be more likely to buy condo's here than us lot and in fact have been significant buyers in some blocks already.
Asia for the Asians has become more so it seems.

I see the trend. My thinking is that when I retire I will spend 90 days a year in LOS (60 day visa and 30 day extension) and 3 months in the Fils.

Notwithstanding my thread elsewhere, your plan makes the most rational sense to me.

The speed at which Sihanoukville in Cambodia transformed was just downright scary and was set to increase even more until, on request of the Chinese, new laws were introduced outlawing online gaming.

Being fluid about where to live is a great plan IMO.

As you know, we have fallen out politically with China. Our government, some would say are being cucks, but are looking for ways to repair the damage.

In the way of diplomacy, travel bubbles will never be just about travel, but also a way to build bonds, do trade deals, discuss foreign aid etc.

What is NZ's take on this. It is a strange article. Written in a NZ paper but from a thai perspective.

Unless NZ and AUS agree to all the other countries in the bubble then I doubt it will happen
