So i've normally just gotten sims from the booths and caught a Grab taxi but this year thought I would try catching the train. (Staying 1 week in bkk b4 patts) I've found Klook and ordered a sim and train ticket my question is can I top up the sim after the 8day? Then top up 99baht with Internet Booster 4GB for 15 days to finish off my trip?

You should be able to top it up with any amount and use the DTAC  add-on package of your choice.

Thanks, so when it runs out I  should just get a 100baht card from 7/11 and top up

You can even get them to top it up when you pick up the card.   Then activate the add-on package after the 8 day package expires.

Bear in mind that, even if it will work, you will need to have 105.96 baht worth of credit. It is not 99 baht. It is 99 baht + 7% VAT.

Just letting you know...

Personally, I would just go for the unlimited data @ 10 Mbps for 200 baht pack attached to a normal 49 baht SIM.

Lost my other sim & there was a big line at the airport during the week so I went to Bkk terminal 21 Dtac shop on the top floor & got the Dtac 49bt sim card.

Then paid 320bt for 5GB of data & 16 minutes of calls.

Paid another 20bt to extend expiry of sim card for a year.

Also got international roaming activated (received sms confirmation whilst there) so I can receive sms in oz.

Erm... 320 baht for 5 GB??

That's not good. Current promo being unlimited data @ 10 Mbps for 200 baht or unlimited @ 4 Mbps for 150 baht. Though not highlighted in this thread, it is mentioned in post #8.

16 minutes of calls are worth 16 baht.

Please advise where you got the promo prices.  The Dtac website shows quite different pricing.  Unlimited 10mbps 7 days - 330 baht.

The promo prices come from the network and go to the distributors. They aren't posted on their official websites. Otherwise there would be no incentive to utilise the aforementioned distributors.

Ok,  so you’re saying any shop selling a dtac simcard will also sell the packages you mention?  I assume the validity period is 7 days.

You assume wrongly. ;)

Don't know if it makes a difference but the 5GB is valid for a month

As are the unlimited products highlighted above.

Though of course if 5GB is enough for you, it's not a huge amount more.

Truemove H, in addition to unlimited data, also offers an unlimited call package for a extra 50 baht per month.

So you can get unlimited data 4 or 10 Mbps with unlimited calls to all networks, for 200 or 250 baht per month respectively.

So is the best place to buy DTAC at BKK airport?

You need to show your passport now to get a sims card from any of the carriers. So it’s really up to you, whether to get the  card at Airport or in town. I used to wait until I was in Pattaya, but that was before the passport was required.

No. Unless you specifically want a Tourist SIM.

Does anyone know if the sim card stores at the airport are open again?
I land on the 27th and would like to buy a sim card directly.

My recent visit (April 30th) found sim card booths adjacent to the baggage belts in addition to the regular counters after Customs.
