I'm coming to Pattaya in February and was looking at the Airbnb site and have found accommodation with similar pricing at the above two complexes. I have stayed at the Centara and have no issues going back there but was just wondering if anybody had experience of The Base ?
 

Reviews seem to be mixed. Some people say it’s very quiet whilst others complain of the noise and long waits for elevators. Any feedback would be greatly welcomed and if anyone wants feedback on Centara I’m happy to help.

Stayed at the base for 3 x 1 months. I would not stay on the soi diana side - the constant noise is quite annoying.

no probs with elevators.

I prefer Centara, much more laid back vibe, quiet, etc. However, fewer units to choose from.

Seems like you have done some searching and know there are issues with The Base about if airbnb / short-term rentals are allowed. Be sly about checking-in, etc.

I think an airbnb at The Base can be fine if you understand what it is. Just select "Superhost" on airbnb, one with a good rating and reviews who knows how to work this system. Good advice for most airbnb rentals but I think a must when selecting The Base.

Centara every time.

I have stayed several times at The Base, starting not too long after it opened.  Each time it got worse.  I wouldn't stay there again.

Same here, stayed at the Base four times. Last time was last month and it was packed with Chinese. Noise level was unbearable and waiting times at the elevator sometimes 10 minutes. Never again... For my next trip in May I am also looking at Centara now but another alternative could be the new Grand Avenue opposite Centara.

way too many chinese tourists at the base.  but the location is good.
the majority of the rentals are owned by chinese who arent even in the country
so the check in process is  a shit show
the rooms are starting to get worn down by the constant renting.
i would vote centara
its right behind the avenue,  not the best location but not the worst

The grand Ave condos are new ,located across the centara. Already many apt on airnb 

If you want to try the base, use Airbnb and select a "superhost" one who has worked through the issues of renting at the base.

Worth checking, in the same area.
