20 PEOPLE ARRESTED FOR BEATING UP PATTAYA JET SKI OPERATORS

PATTAYA — Police said Friday a group of 20 young men and women were arrested after assaulting four jet ski rental operators on the popular island of Koh Lan yesterday.

Maj. Chainarong Chai-in of Pattaya Police Station said one of the vendors attacked by the suspects was in critical condition, while the other three suffered minor injuries.

Chainarong said the suspects – 12 men and 8 women – assaulted the jet ski operators after an argument on Thursday. The officer also said 19 of them tested positive for drug use.

According to police, the group traveled from Songkhla province to Koh Lan for sightseeing and agreed to hire four jet skis from the operators. But as the payment was being arranged, some of the men reportedly started posing for photos with the jet skis, drawing a rebuke from the operators.

The verbal confrontation soon escalated into a brawl in full sight of other tourists at the scene, police said.

Maj. Chainarong said charges would be filed after questioning additional witnesses.

looking at the report on pattaya news they are all thai.

20 teenagers, 4 jet ski, the maths do not add up.

i'm betting they never actually intended to go out in the bay, never parted with any cash, started taking multiple selfies with the intention of walking away.

hence the dispute

I saw the classical jetski scam well played out by the operators against a group of 5-6 either Arabic or Indian guys in Phuket last week. Ended up paying at least 5K baht, theybpaid after the "police" was called.

This is tame.  They had a shootout in Samui the other year on the beach during high season and a couple of the operators died

Yeh I remember that! Was staying on Samui at the time. Was a turf war on Chaweng beach if I remember correctly. The tourists on that beach must have been thinking WTF!
