Hi, I’m an Australian seeking to get the longest visa possible for an extended holiday. All the information I google is quite confusing. I have on a previous holiday got the 30 plus an additional 30 from immigration but would like to know the longest visa available without the hassle of going to immigration or border runs. Cheers for any help

Assuming you are under 50 and not married to a Thai etc then a Single Entry Tourist Visa should be relatively straightforward to get and it gives you 60 days in Thailand. (This can be extended by another 30 days at Immigration Office in Thailand.)

A Multiple Entry Tourist Visa is more hassle to get and doesn’t give you any longer each stay. However, it does mean you can go to another country and return to Thailand and get another 60 days (+30) as often as you like within a 6 month period.

You may get close to 9 months out of a METV, but would have to leave the country twice. That is your best bet.
