Here are some model shoots I've done with the camera.  These were all nudies, so you'll have to check the Advanced Sections of the forum for more.

Superb work mate.

Perfect lighting. Which lense you used to do the modeling shoot? 24-70?

Yes, it's extremely sharp. And I take a few with the 50 f/1.4, usually wide open. I'm on my way to a model shoot right now, just stopped for some tea. There's fluorescent lighting, and I bounce off the ceiling with a speed light and diffuser, fill flash outdoors. The camera has no built-in flash.

Appreciate your pictures. High quality and very well taken.

Some questions:

- did you use  a flash when taking pictures and if so which brand / type

- what kind of lens were you using

Thanks....

I used a Nikon speedlight SB-700 for the indoor shots only, with a bounce card, and the kit lens, 24-70mm f/4, pretty good for a kit lens.  There’s no internal flash.  I had my ultra wide lens in the bag but didn’t use it so was an extra kg to carry around.  As you can see, I also used a cross filter on many of the indoor shots.

Thanks for the info. Will have a look on google at the flash....

Unfortunately, they’re not cheap.  Mine was 11,900 as I recall.  Third party flashes are much cheaper but this will use the camera’s built-in metering system and distance to subject to determine how much light to put out.

I still use my SB-600, but I picked up the Yongnuo 622N remote flash triggers and they work great. Yongnuo makes a specific Nikon flash that works with the Nikon metering and distance for around $100. I haven't bought one yet, but if the flash works, and is built as well as the triggers, I expect I will be very happy with it. https://yongnuousa.net/products/yn685-nikon The large mall camera shops in Thailand generally stock Yongnuo stuff. And boy howdy, Nikon branded stuff is not cheap. :-) 555

This trip I will be packing my new D850 with an attached AF-S NIKKOR 85mm f/1.4Gm lens, a SB-700 AF Speedlight, and because I can't decide beforehand which will suit my needs more, a small Rogue FlashBender 2 Reflector and an Altura Flash Diffuser. Yikes, My gear bag is getting so full!

On Speedlights: I seriously thought about buying the Godox V860II N TTL for Nikons at about half the price as the SB -700. I am sure it is a very good product and would work seamlessly with a D850 or a Z6 or Z7, but I am so far into the price stratosphere that  what's another $150 more or less, so I went with the SB-700. In any case I am confident that I will shoot some great shots of my favorite girls and some new ones I meet out on the trail.

My experience is the bar girls start to freak out when you pull out the speed light. LOL My best shots of bar girls were with a less obtrusive pocket camera.

Impressive gear, but would only one lens (the AF-S NIKKOR 85mm f/1.4Gm lens) do. I know it is depending on what you would like to photograph but I could image in some cases needing other lenses.

Have fun....

I bought the sony fe 85mm f1.8 recently and it is amazing for portraits, especially if you have a bit of room to move around. F1.8 Produces a great bokeh, the lens works well in low light situations, and it is very small and lightweight (the reason I did not buy a f1.4). From what I can see, the nikon is very similar to my lens in almost all aspects, so I can recommend. A 85mm f1.8 prime is a lot of fun to use, because it is so small, light, sharp and has a great bokeh.

However, in small rooms, I can see a 50mm lens working better for full body shots. For the 85mm, the min. distance to the subject for a full body portrait needs to be at least around 3-4 meters, which is quite a lot.

IMO there is no question that the Z 85mm f/1.8 S  lens is currently the one to get if you are solely considering a new portrait lens for a Z6 or Z7 camera alone.  It does not surprise me that the video shows the Z lens is very competitive with the 85mm F1.4G lens mounted on a Z7 camera. The new Z lens is made for the Z camera. Duh! The only downside I see is that this lens can only be used on Z cameras and that Nikon most likely has a Z 85mm F/1.4 S in the works.

It would have been interesting if the video had gone on to compare an AFS 85mm f/1.4G mounted on a D850 vrs the Z 85mm F1/1.8 S  mounted on a Z7.  I think there are advantages to both systems.

I know what you mean. HA HA. But I tend to go with the flow. 1st a couple of Tequilas always loosens everybody up. Then I will pull out the gear. If the speed light inhibits the action I will shoot without it. If the DSLR is the intimidating factor, I can always fall back on my Samsung Galaxy S8 which takes very good snapshots.

I have other Nikkor lenses including a 50mm and a telephoto zoom which I like to take along on mountain treks. But I am trying to keep my kit as small as possible on this trip so, the 85 mm is going to be it. But I think I will have some fun. My main thing is still shagging the girls. My artistic bent will always take back seat to that.

The 50mm is also a good portrait lens and is small and lightweight. As for telephotos, my 55-300 FX lens creates better bokah than my 28-300 DX, and it cost a third, but is only good for 13MP.

Correction: The 55-300 mm is DX format and the 28-300 mm is FX format.

It seems that the Nikon D850 (a full frame camera) has an option to use it as a DX. Does that mean that using this option also DX lenses can be used ?

Thanks for answering....
