Want to live to 100 years old? No problem, just do these 5 things....

Featured Replies

Ok so I'm no doctor but here are my thoughts and how to live to 100 years old.

1.  Eat lots of shellfish + seafood.  Zinc + copper are essential minerals that help the body with longevity.  Take a look at Japan, they consume seafood as their main diet and they have the most 100+ year olds.

2. Keep stress levels to minimal.  Avoid any stressful situations as possible.  Know a person who just makes you angry? Avoid!  Watch news and get angry? Don't watch news!  etc etc  Stress = high cortisol = bad for you, makes you age faster!

3. Walk at least 6000 steps a day.  Keyword: walk, not run.

4. Keep processed food consumption to a minimal, fast food to 0 and try to keep carb intake to less than 50g a day. (Most people consume about 300g of carbs a day).  Basically if the food you are eating comes in a package, it is most likely bad for you.

5. Stop drinking alcohol and stop any form of smoking.  For obvious reasons.

3... 6,000 steps a day . ( I have been walking at the average of 13,500 steps a day during last month )  . Looking good . :D . By Using my IPhone health check .

5.. Don’t drink or Smoke ... ( haven’t touch a drop since 28/11/00 , haven’t smoke in my entire life ) .. Looking double good .. :D

My Mom used to drink and smoke in her entire life , she is still around now at 96 .  Didn’t affect her . Although, in her working life , she walked at the average of over 10,000 steps a day .

Even if you don’t live to 100 it will feel like you have following that video’s regime.

Or your body.

The chances of your cock still working past 85 or 90 years old is pretty low, regardless of what you do in your younger years.  So who the fuck wants to live 100+ years - shitting and pissing yourself and relying on someone to wipe your ass?  I certainly don't...

Unless scientists discover the key to immortality, I don't think I care about living "healthy".   But they better hurry the fuck up, I'm coming up on 55 years old and I'm already staring to see the effects of old age creeping up on me.  :P

That video you linked, that guy is a chiropractor, not a real doctor...

I’ve read the book The Blue Zones, where national geographic sent out a team of researchers to study groups of people around the world who were living till 100 and over, there was Okinawa in Japan, Sardinia in Italy, ikaria a Greek island, loma Linda California and nicoya peninsula in Costa Rica. What they found that they believed contributed to these people living longer was ..

1. They all ate 95% whole foods plant based diet

2. physical activity, they move around a lot, worked on their farms, Walked up and down hills, made their own wine etc

3. they had a sense of purpose everyday, work, provide for family, take care of family etc

4. they had strong bonds with friends and family, and a good social life

5. They were all religious or spiritual in some way.

Of course other things like regular sex, no smoking, warm climate, no alcohol helps too (although some of the blue zones did drink a small glass of red wine everyday)

Yes, the OP is focussed solely on being alive at 100.   Thats missing the point of life.   Longevity is not a great metric.

Having an enjoyable lifestyle and feeling happy seem more the kinds of things to aim for.   Not just living as long as possible.

You may choose to enjoy drinking wine, eating food you enjoy and keeping fit enough.  You may plan your budget to let you do this until 80, and then accept that as the end of your life.  You may accept that having a shorter, but enjoyable life is best for you.

Avoid pain, suffering, depravations of 80+.    An option.

Why walk and not run? Because running is bad for your knees?

medium pace running which most people do at the gym (aka steady state cardio) creates a lot of stress and gives nearly the same results of walking.

If you wish to run, you should do it HIIT cardio style (~10 minutes), (High intensity interval training), stress is minimal but results are better.  Think sprinter vs marathon runner, which one looks ripped and healthy and which one looks weak and like they are 1 meal away from dying lol.

How can walking give the same results? I actually prefer walking over running but walking seems much less efficient, i.e. the number of steps you can do in the same time.

But I keep hearing more and more that walking is healthy. It just feels like an inefficient use of time to exercise.

Walking is less inefficient for burning cals compared to other methods, but in terms of longevity it probably has other benefits: mental positivity of actually moving and maintaining a purpose to live, or some shit like that :) (which i do believe is real and quite powerful too!)

I use this calculator in my work (finance stuff): https://www.ons.gov.uk/peoplepopulationandcommunity/healthandsocialcare/healthandlifeexpectancies/articles/lifeexpectancycalculator/2019-06-07

well i don't have all the answers but walking rarely creates any stress, at least not on the level of medium pace running does.  More stress = ageing faster  (ie, presidents, PMs hair turns to gray after a couple of years)

and I believe there are some other metabolism issues/benefits of walking vs running....

  • Caloric restriction (fasting for the majority of the day; I personally eat once per day)
  • Cut out sugar and alcohol as much as possible (I am at zero alcohol but sugar is still my weakness)
  • Limit protein intake
  • Reduce bodyfat to below 20%
  • 3x/week high-intensity, low-impact cardiovascular
  • 3x/week weight-lifting or long-duration exercise that increases your heart rate
  • Hot + cold therapy (sauna and cold bath, cold shower, polar plunge, etc)
  • Take Resveratrol, NMN, Metformin/Berbarine, Vit D
  • Avoid stress
  • Get enough sleep
  • Protect your joints
  • Avoid X-rays whenever possible

#6. Choose your parents.

Majority (80%?) is genetic. Yes, we can push the odds in our favour, but most is not even within our control.

To have a good laugh and learn something on the subject of valiant health efforts, read 'Drop Dead Healthy' by Jacobs

I'd rather live life to the fullest while I can.

If I drop dead at 70 I wouldn't have any regrets.

What fun is there to be have once you reach 70 anyway ?

I studied for my PhD at the same school as the guy that discovered Resveratrol, sold the company for a cool $250 million!

The book Lifespan from David Sinclair is highly recommended.

That's who I was referring to, I went to Uni with David Sinclair, they used to call him 'Barny' as he looked like a Flintstones character! 555

Fk that,  if there's 3 words I hate other than the new normal it's plant based diet.

Wait until you are 69.

You might then think differently.
