People really go to Thailand to get a burger and fries?

I go to Thailand for a vacation. I sometimes eat a burger and fries when I'm hungry.

I think Oishi is almost as crappy as Shabushi......After going to both a few times I will not be making that mistake again....Much less paying $$ for the privilege....

so you went to a place you thought it was crap a few times? I wouldn't go there for a 2nd time.

Avenue's Osisi Buffet - was excellent. Great view at the 2nd road end. Spread was excellent , had most of the international food mixed well. Jap , Chinese , western etc. A little pricy but still worth a visit every 1 or 2 months.

Oishi Sabushi - many wont get it. Nothing better than a wonderful broth to start with and you decide what you want in it and how its to be cooked. Recently I've noticed that people who cook will appreciate places like these. Those who like the cooked food places wont. Anyway Oishi Shabushi comes with comes with some pretty good sides .......sushi , tempura (and their sauces wasabi etc) , ice cream , freeflow drinks

But their prices have slowly crept up and the place is always crowded (especially Central Festival's!). Ive tried the one opposite (name escapes me ; NOT MK) , similar concept less people and maybe a few percentage only lower in my scale vs Oishi Sabushi

Eatporium - supposedly the replacement of the Avenue's , its more expensive , better beach view and more current foods with more Japanese and some Korean bingsoo ice thing that's all the rage now. They cut a lot of the previous western and Chinese stuff and added some more jap stuff but as I only go for sashimi , it doesn't really add anything for me.  'I will not be making that mistake again....Much less paying $$ for the privilege....' :)

Oishi has an all-you-can-eat option at the Oishi Eaterium at Central Festival.  I haven't tried it yet, but it sounds similar to the Oishi buffet that used to be on the second floor of The Avenue.

It's not cheap at about  ฿800 (including 7% VAT), but it is still value-for-money because it's not just sushu and sashimi, but a whole array of Japanese and "international" hot and cold dishes from soups and appetizers through main dishes and desserts.  I'm just not sure I can do justice to 800 baht's worth of food in one sitting.  You have 1 hour 45 minutes in which to eat all you want.

.......

Wow - 800 - pricey.

I like Tsunami for 600 over in Jomtien on Chiyaprutek and it rings most of the bells that you mention. I hear they have a place on 3rd road as well, which would be closer to your neck of the woods.

Obaroi on Jomtien Beach Rd gone.

I had not been in a while, but I did like the place. They had pretty good oysters and shrimp cakes. The view off of Jomtien Beach Road was nice as well. Their greens in soy sauces were good sides as well. Although I am not wild about greens, I should be eating more of them. The GF is on my ass about this at times, rightly so. I think you were the one who originally mentioned Obaroi to me.

Buakhao and Indian joints are not match made in heaven. Little bit confusing when you have kebab and Indian in the same place. Both genres well presented in the area.

I see the recently closed Punch and Judy is back up and running, with an Italian theme.

Also, got a notification on Facebook that they will be doing Sunday Roasts.

Have to say, about 3 or 4 years ago, they did do outstanding Sunday Roasts.

Only once myself.  Food was ok but smallish imo.  Never saw it busy and passed by many times during my trips.  Look forward to trying the Mex, whenever...my trip in 6 days cancelled (of course) :Offtopic2:
