Today's Istanbul news is, they have expanded

istanbul_02.jpg

I was very hungry when I took the only chicken kebab from this place. Very small and for the price of 70bht I can get a double size kebab from Rompho kebab stall. I understand the rental costs etc in that location must be huge but still I would not get another shot. Better choices around the town.

What happened with Retox?

Am I looking back through "rose tinted" glasses?

My memories are of a place always busy for food and drink and at times had girls very much in demand, then when they added the container it had already shown a bit of a downturn that accelerated as it seemed to become more reliant on food and of course there was the "rooftop" and "big screen"

Of course Retox Soi Honey (game on?) opened and Lengkee went downhill further but is Retox Honey now struggling a little more than it did?

Is this another sign of the change in demographic of Pattaya "clients"?

Does Bronx still have a booth on Diana? I remember at times you had to queue to get a slice on the way home and more often than not I got there when they had run out and were cleaning.

I don't think I have ever ate pizza in Pattaya since.

i have no idea about retox lengkee but there is fierce local competition on price and sometimes when lease renewal comes round there are greedy landlords.

bronx still has the booth on soi diana  between lk metropole and buakaow

Agree"d" it does seem the recipe for failure where landlords are concerned, is for a business to be "too successful" but in most cases whether the increased rent is realised, or not?  Its not long before someone sinks money in and takes the space, unlike the dying High streets here in the UK.

WS is the prime example and even worse the same GG owner often spends for a refurb of what was already a "dead donkey" even within months of the last, it does lend some credence to the "laundry" theory.

The last 2 times I visited Retox Soi Lengkee there were only a few other customers the writing was on the wall

Nothing to do with the rent increase then.

Whilst Cheap Charlie’s  HH ,CM were extremely busy because of .cheaper prices better menu

Not surprising but I see Volare on Buakhao has the "Business for Sell" sign up.

Once a busy restaurant, who closed for a re-fit, and their trade moved on while they did it.

And just to beat Striderman, there is a new 7-11 being built on Buakhao across from the Pattaya City Hospital.

Yes they are closed. It was only fun (for them) for a short time. The place did not look inviting. Never visited them.

The old hotel that it once was (name does not spring to mind-striders remind us) was bought by Malee (Malees Lodge and other ventures) some time ago and renovated.....7-11 were the first to take out a lease on the unit...been paying rent for quite some time so I am reliably informed.

Their only selling food was the brekkie and that was a loss leader(they said). All the other food was overpriced and the thai food was ridiculously overpriced. That leads to the situation, where there is no money to made from food but only from the drinks. That is not the best business model.

Sorry I did not look close enough, you are quite right.

Did it not also come right out and have the cooking area right at the front?

Am I right in thinking that ‘Steak & Co’s’ new Chinese venture isn’t open yet?

Oishi has an all-you-can-eat option at the Oishi Eaterium at Central Festival.  I haven't tried it yet, but it sounds similar to the Oishi buffet that used to be on the second floor of The Avenue.

Untitled-1c.jpg

It's not cheap at about  ฿800 (including 7% VAT), but it is still value-for-money because it's not just sushu and sashimi, but a whole array of Japanese and "international" hot and cold dishes from soups and appetizers through main dishes and desserts.  I'm just not sure I can do justice to 800 baht's worth of food in one sitting.  You have 1 hour 45 minutes in which to eat all you want.

I think Oishi is almost as crappy as Shabushi......After going to both a few times I will not be making that mistake again....Much less paying $$ for the privilege....
