Pattaya hotel March

I have a friend that will be in Pattaya this March for a couple of weeks. Like me, he is a cheap charlie when it comes to hotels. He doesn't need anything fancy. Both of us trypically try to stay in the $20-40 a night range, but prefer the bottom of that range. Less money on lodging, more money on BGs. The hotel has to be guest friendly. No hi-so places please. He has his airline tickets, but has not made hotel reservations.

He had been a frequent visitor to Thailand years ago, but then started to frequent AC in Phils. He made the near fatal error of meeting and marrying a woman there. I ran into him after making a similar switch in prefered destinations. He is now a newly free man (pending a re-opening of the divorce by his blood sucking ex), but the emotional connections of the place are too much for him. In any case, it seems to have been taken over by the Koreans, and whitey is no longer welcome, so that is off the list of places to go. I felt that there should be some unusually good deals in Pattaya this (not so) high season.

Thanks in advance for any help anyone can provide

For an inexpensive hotel with good location to Walking Street, I frequently stay at Jasmine hotel on Soi BJ, just

a block from Happy A GoGo. Only about 3 years old, so furnishings are new, but very basic. No phone, request a

room on the second floor because no elevator. No pool either, if that's a requirement, but free WiFi. Rates vary

from 450-800 depending on season. Very guest friendly, frequently brought two girls up at a time, no problem.

My friend is appreciative for the help. To help narrow down his requirements they are: Queen bed, fridge and A/C, Central or South Pattaya location close to either Beach Rd or 2nd Road.

At this point, if it were me, I would be looking at slightly more upscale lodging at my normal price point. The bargains are there for the usually more expensive locales.

Thanks to all. My friend really appreciated the link to the under 500 Baht hotels. Like all recently divorced he is under severe budget constraints. He has decided to fish from the under 500B pond only.

So thanks again and I will sign off.
