exchange rates be damned! I'll be there for the whole month:-)

A bit to soon for decent deals on flights and hotels but already blocked the month at work.

Looking at airfares now. We will probably pull the trigger in November. Trying to get the twice a year thing happening.

4th to 18th July hopefully Areca Lodge. Flight booked

Make sure you go to a 7-11 before midnight and stock up with beer as there’s bar closures/no alcohol on the 5th and 6th.

Do all bars fully close as i have not experienced these days before luckily? Its not that i'm a heavy drinker but would struggle to while away the time without a bar to sit in.

Nothing else in July. October is the next one.

While you can usually find somewhere for a drink, it was very much a ‘Hard’ closure last year. Most places will close soon after midnight on the 4th (when the 5th starts) and while some may open at (or before if they can get away with it) midnight on the 6th, others won’t bother until the 7th.

Go-gos shut. Anywhere with food is likely to be open but without alcohol.

Taipei for 1 hour 25 minutes. The return fare is about 1300 TBH. What the attraction is , other then the price, is that it leaves Sydney at 22.10 and we are on the ground in Pattaya around Mid day the following day. ATM I am leaving my house the night before and having a crap sleep at my brothers house so I might as well have a crap sleep on the plane and get 7 hours more action on the first day. 11 hours 30 minutes travelling time compared to 9.

Unfortunately it’s a typo gents, 555. I have not recently won the lottery

D that would be great, get working on that plan for late July.

My actual (non typo) dates are 22nd July to Aug 1st.

Ok mate, thought you were being really brave an laying over in China :GrinNod1:

Malaysian Airlines leave Sydney around the same time each night, stop over in KL for about 4 hrs then onto BKK arriving at 10am. That’s what I normally do.
I paid $1,100 for economy before upgrading.

Four hour layover damn!!!

Typically I believe the shorter the layover the more you pay. I never had/have to pay and if I did I think I'd fork over a bit more not to be in some airport any longer than I need to be.

Ultimately, we do what fits for us!
