I give up! Palmtop translation software?

Recommended Posts

Ok, I played with the Pimsleur stuff and other training courses the past few months, but I've concluded that life is just too short to spend the time required to become fluent in Thai. Maybe if I retire there someday...

So now I'm checking out various translation software and "talking phrase books" like from LingvoSoft.com that I can load on my phone.

Has anyone some experience & recommendations for the high-tech approach?

Hmm this could prove tricky I'm afraid if your attempting to translate phrases. Word for word would be no problem but there are words used in Thai vocab that dont have direct english translations. If your just looking for basic stuff then have a look at the following site:

Thai Language.com

Its an ok site but doesnt really give you much info as to what is being spoken today I'm afraid. You really need a Thai teacher for this.

Hope this helps a bit.

What OS is your phone?

Good question; I'm actually planning to get a new one and having the software requirements drive a big part of my decision on which phone to buy. So at this point I'm open to all software options.
