Vloggers - am I being paranoid??

Just get the LINE number of any Thai working girl you have entertained.Your phone will soon be full of "miss you, love you, I have no money for rice and I am ill, why you not love me anymore" messages. If any fellow workmates see you on youtube show them the messages and tell them the girl in the youtube video is your gf "look she miss me too much every day".You will have to keep up the pretence by having to go back to Pattaya 3 times a year. It's a win win situation.

I understand you have real concerns about being seen, however the answers are all above

Whenever you are outside your hotel, wear a smog mask and sunglasses and a baseball cap

Don't go in any bar where you could be seen from the outside

There are a dozen Gents Clubs in Pattaya which are open mid afternoon till about 10pm, all are close doored and strictly ban cameras
All GoGo bars are close doored and also ban cameras

If you stick to this, you will have a ball and nobody can see you at all.

Jerk off to free Internet porn in your hotel room. Your chances of getting caught are minimal (but who knows, the hotel may have secret cameras live-streaming your most intimate moments to the Internet)!:Dance1:

Thanks to all BM's positive comments.

Lessons learnt

1. Disguise

2. Don't drink

3. Don't go out 11.00pm - 7.00am

4. Keep off main areas

5. Sit inside

6. Haha - avoid co-workers...........

7. Don't give a shit

Ok - think I will try to abide by Nos. 1-6 but No. 7 will probably be main lesson.

Thanks to all!!!

I think people are much more easily recognized (or have their identify confirmed) by:

1. Tattoos (maybe not the exact design, but matching size and location)

2. Clothes (don't wear the same shorts/shoes/shirt in LOS that you wear at home)

3. Jewelry, watches, earrings.

Also, don't let a girl take a photo of you (or in the worst case, make it clear "no facebook, no instagram").

You know what I find most annoying about vloggers in general?

Their utter lack of originality.

One person does something, then FFS everyone and their cousins has to do the same damned thing over and over and over.

One example is that famous food vendor Jay Fai, of the crab omelette fame in Bangkok. Once she got that Michelin Star, everyone was tripping over themselves to film at her place. Mark Weins being one of the bigger names. Then before you know it you had vlogger after vlogger going there.

Same thing with Pattaya and Bangkok. It would be interesting to know who were the first group of people to film these areas. I know there's videos of walkthroughs in Pattaya going back nearly 10 years ago on YouTube.

But nowadays everyone thinks they're the next big thing and these Scorsese's film up and down the soi's of Pattaya with no sense of purpose or direction. The worst are those who rapidly walk up and down Soi LK Metro like a madman with something that looks like it was filmed with a potato, or plant their camera in one corner of the bar where you can't really see what is going on in the area (the heck is that supposed to do). At least guys like Geoff Carter and Kev talked about what was going on and described the areas and sights to see.

There should be a mandatory fine of 1000 baht for any 'heroes' that sprint up and down sois with a camera and film nothing of artistic value.

Oh man, I tried watching travel vlogs to plan my first trip longer than four days and you are right. They are all identical hitting the same exact places as everyone else, doing the same exact things as everyone else, all while complaining that there are too many people all doing the same exact thing.

Some ladies don`t like to be on video .They suppose to be at home to take care of buffaloes.:SoWhat1:

I predict bars are going to start enforcing no cameras/phones filming soon.  These drunk loser vloggers go to bars and sit there for hours live-streaming with no thought of everyone else around them who is being broadcasted online without permission.

And if you don’t like it - DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT.  I’m not saying abuse them or confront them, but telling the managers you’re going to leave the bar if that person keeps filming everyone is a good idea. Make it the bar’s choice to tell them to stop filming.

If you are this worried don't take the risk. Pay more and take from the GoGo bars where people get in trouble for filming.

Go to Bangkok, it's the most visited tourist capital in the world, no one can insinuate you for going there.

Moreover, the P4P is more spread out in Bangkok, hence unlikely you will feature in any of these vids.

you might want to get a baseball cap and a pair of sunglasses --at least while walking around..there are a of vloggers around and by the sheer number of videos online it is obvious that they are posting them

They are filming in a public place, I dont think they need your permission.

People need to understand, this is the new reality. With the advent of smartphones and small action cameras, almost everything can and will get recorded and broadcasted.

Privacy does not exist anymore. Accept this new reality.

Furthermore many countries make it illegal to fuck hookers - the nordic (Sweden, Norway, France, Canada, Ireland) model approach to prostitution makes buying people for sex a criminal offence. I do not know about the implications as to how jurisdiction for those laws actually works but I guess it is not good if you are seen negotiating with a hooker on beach road.

Yes, those are laws in their own countries. Sweden has nothing to say against a swede who fucks a prostitute in thailand.

They’re filming in someone’s business.  The owner can tell anyone they like to fuck off.  If it makes the other customers upset, they will.

See how far you get if you try to film inside a gogo.

Many countries have laws about some activities of their citizens overseas. It is usually regarding serious criminal activity but not a hard stretch to imagine a country seeking to influence something like this.

Some vlogger hotspots in Pattaya are:

Assienda, Defacto's, Thai Bar - Soi Chaiyapoon
Sexy Bar - Soi Made in Thailand
Nom Bar, Nikky's Bar - Naklua
The Office Girls Bar - Soi 13/1 Yamato
Neung Bar - Soi Buahkhao

These are the places for the most prominent vloggers on YT.

So if you don't want get caught on camera (for whatever reason), avoid these places or at least keep an eye open if someone enters the place with a phone on gimbals/small tripod in his hand. Some have already returned or planning to return to their specific home countries, but might be back any time soon.

Totally agree with you.  Those live streams are winding me up.

Watched one recently and there were two vloggers getting money (youtube tips don’t know what they are called) to ring the bell in a bar.

Got the girls pissed, bar owner was loving it.  Think about £100 between them in 45 mins I watched.

For that reason, I think the bar owner will welcome them, rather than banning them.  Makes them money and the girls bum on seat in the bar drinking.

You say, DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT - in all honestly if one of those wankers, sat down and started that I’d just get up and leave.  What else can you do? They’d just stick a camera in your face if you kicked off.

I don’t understand who, and why, some people are giving them youtube tip money for fuck all.

All they are doing is spoiling it for everyone else.

they are bunch of cunts

Indeed...wouldn't be my cup of tea either. But she was very popular for the folks the respective chats.

One of those vloggers is repeating taking the piss out of the other vloggers. Often enough fuelled by the keyboard warriors in his chat throwing around outright lies and prejudices keeping up the drama. Plus being pretty disrespectful very often.

There are two German lads (one is a retired resident), who are respectful in terms of vlogging. So they ask if you don't mind being on camera. If you do, they turn the camera away respecting your privacy.

...is another one you can add to the list.

Sweden discussed criminalizing buying sex abroad in 2018, but it was rejected. In Norway it’s been prohibited to buy sex abroad since 2008.

Personally I think you are being way too paranoid- what are you doing wrong?  WHat if someone filmed you on a day to day basis on China and posted it?  Just go with the flow- even if someone did film you in the street the chances of it being spotted by someone you know are tiny. If you are that concerned have the girls follow behind you or meet at the hotel- just don't pay them in advance.

Vloggers are extremely annoying- I tend to scratch my nose with my middle finger walking past anyone filming in the street.

For you to be recognised, someone would literally have to be subscribed to all of the various channels and watch them religiously. That would be a huge time commitment on their side.
