The gen PAM 292 is similar to PAM 183 but made of Black sandblasted finish Ceramic instead of polished SS and fitted with solid caseback. It seems more similar to the PAM 380 but this last watch has a very different Logo Sausage dial instead of conventional Sandwich dial.
The gen Black Panerai Radiomir PAM 292 was first introduced in 2007 and it is now slowly making its way to the lucky few on the waiting lists. As opposed to other earlier black Panerai watches - like the Pre V 202/A and 203/A, the PAM 4,9,26, 360 and 195 - this Radiomir is not a PVD coated watch. Its case is Ceramic.
Ceramic is about five times harder than stainless steel and as a result much less prone to scratches. The new Ceramic watches are Panerai's solution for a much more reliable product. But the production process of ceramic watches is much more complicated and time consuming - mainly because the material is so hard. The cases are not molded, but made by machining. This is most likely why it has taken quite long for the first watches to be delivered to their owners. But, it's worth the wait.
There is another interesting detail about this Black Seal. Although the watch is not a Special Edition, the 2008 run does no longer have the little submarine SLC torpedo with two frogman riders- often referred to as the "pig"- on the dial. This seems to make the 2007 J-series a very collectible watch. The J-series is limited to 1000 pieces and another 1500 pieces will be made for the K-series (2008). The gen PAM 292 is part of the Panerai “Historic” Radiomir models, it has a Sandwich black dial in a cushion shaped Radiomir black Ceramic case 45mm, with detachable wire lugs with, seconds@9 sub-dial, Solid caseback and movement Panerai OP XI calibre, ETA based, it is manual winding by a onion shaped crown which has OP logo engraved.


These replicas Full Black Ceramic version of PAM 292 K are made of real Black Ceramic and with sandblasted type finish very close to the gen. Sometimes this replica is even sold cheaper than the equivalent in Black PVD SS.
Be careful because some replicas from K-series H-maker had a very serious issue with an incorrect glue being used causing the case to split apart and making the lugs useless. Maker fixed this issue in the following models (thanks info from AHX).
However, one of our watchsmiths (Wiz in France) has sourced the correct compound for sticking ceramic to SS and can perform the repair should it be needed (thanks info from Bonesey)
We can consider the Full Ceramic K-series as First Class rep medium level (be careful with the above mentioned issue), and the Full Ceramic M-series from H maker as a First Class rep bordering Super Rep status, IMO these replicas are surpassed by new generation of J-series.


July 2012- H maker introduced a version J-series, therefore with the “pig” pressed out in the dial, that we can consider directly as a First Class rep. bordering Super rep status.

July 2012 -Noob also introduced a version J-series, threfore with the “pig” pressed out in the dial, that we can consider Super rep. This replica comes with ceramic crown, which could seem inaccurate since the first gen J-series came with SS PVD coated crown, but really the last gen J-series came with ceramic crown. For this reason Noob has decided starting the rep PAM 292 J-series with Ceramic crowm. Noob says that it is using a very good quality ceramic and process to make the case. Therefore this replica could be the best PAM 292 in the market, but it is expensive. Be careful with the ceramic crown because it will be fragile.
The Noob version is way more expensive but, following the fantastic thread of comparison by Torobravo, it seems that PAM 292J Noob is better than PAM 292J H-maker (except perhaps the PIG logo, see comments and comparison below).

January 2015- after a long period without Noob Pam 292 J-series in the market, H maker releases a new ceramic improved version H maker V2 of this replica.
H maker makes two versions: J-series with PIG and N-series without PIG. Series in Dealers catalogues are very bad specified and there are many mistakes, confusing PIG with No PIG version, wrong descriptions and mixing pics. It is advisable when purchasing to assure you are getting the version you want before shipment.
H maker uses the same dial as previous versions with the “6” marker a with less rounded than gen (few noticeable) and the same inscription, with worse fonts and less raised print than Noob, but the case seems improved regarding finish without flaws in the joining between mid case and bezel and with the crown made of ceramic like Noob version. This replica doesn’t achieve the quality of Noob, since the case is not at the same level and the dial has not the quality and accuracy of Noob dial. Anyway an interesting choice since Noob is not available at the date of the H maker release. We can evaluate H maker V2 as Super rep bordering a lower status.

The PAM 351 is like a version made of Titanium of a PAM 312 but with a warm dial in Brown colour with Gold hands. See more related watches in PAM 312.
The watch, introduced in 2010 M-series, has a Brushed Titanium 1950 44mm case with contrasted Polished Titanium bezel, display caseback, brown sandwich dial with gold hands, seconds sub-dial @9 and date @3 without cyclops
It is powered by the new Panerai P.9000 “Manifattura†movement. This is an automatic movement with a power reserve of three days.
The PAM 351 is a beautiful watch in the Marina line that is just as great for casually dressed people or wearing suits. It has the text on the dial in cream colour as opposed to white, the same as it is on for instance the new 47mm titanium PAM 306.
Since the gen PAM 351 has a special Panerai “Manifattura†movement P.9000, therefore, for the rep it is impossible to be close to the gen with a display caseback.

-ZFac P-series w/decorated A7750 Inverted
October 2013- ZFac releases a PAM 351 P-series, with decorated A7750 based movement, very similar to KW decoration in finish and appearance. Decoration is based in Puretime type with the same positions of inscriptions, but has the Balance Cock KW style decorated. In my opinion the worse flaw of this movement is having the false decoration jewels painted instead of “real jewels†like KW version. Obviously the decorated movement has also inverted layout in comparison with the gen, and the Balance Wheel is placed @11 whereas in gen is @7, as you can see in below pics.


DECORATED ZFac TYPE MOVEMENT A7750 LIKE PANERAI P.9000 -WITH FALSE ESCAPEMENT WHEEL

Comments about this ZFac replica:
- Finish of this ZFac rep seems similar to KW watches, but owners are detecting it is a bit inferior to KW, it seems that these first batches from ZFac have a little lack of consistency in quality and finish.
- Some owners say that crystal of ZFac is more gen-like bevelled than KW version. Not yet confirmed
- Cannon pinion is flush and more accurate in ZFac version, whereas in KW version is recessed.
- Painted ZFac decoration jewels are worse than “real jewels†of KW version.
Maker is using (as per gen) Titanium for the bezel, this material, mainly in reps, is way smoother than SS and cannot allow the same like mirror polishing finish. You can see that rep has not a mirror polishing as clean and nicey made as the gen has (rep bezel has like a micro grainy surface). Unfortunately this bezel is wider than PAM 346 bezel and these polishing issues are much more eveident on this rep PAM 351. The problem is more obvious than in PAM 346. But don’t worry because it is good enough despite the flaws.
Anyway, very good ZFac replicas with about the same level of KW. First Class rep of high level, due to display caseback with inaccurate movement


-KW V1 M-series w/decorated A7750 Inverted
November 2013-KW releases a PAM 351 M-series (version called KW V1), with the well known decorated KW movement A7750 based Inverted which fits KW PAM 312-359-388-505. This is a decorated movement like P.9000 with inverted layout based on A7750. This decoration has “real†jewels instead of “painted†jewels like first batches of ZFac movements, and also has a false escapement wheel missing in first batches of decorated movements. Since this movement is A7750 based, the balance wheel is placed @11 instead of @7 like gen movement and is much bigger than gen. The overall layout is inverted, like a mirror image of the gen. The balance cock decoration is very similar to the gen and looks much more accurate than ZFac decorations. The balance wheel “hole†is bigger than in ZFac movements and looks similar to the gen. The brushing and finish are very good, better than in ZFac movements.
Bridges inscriptions have accurate fonts. The finish, colour and thickness of fonts are accurate enough but a bit thicker and worse than ZFac inscriptions and with some variations between batches. There is always in decorated inverted layout movement a controversial matter about the orientation of the inscriptions on bridges. As above said the shape of decoration bridges is like a mirror image of the gen shape. But the inscriptions cannot be a mirror image, because in this case they would be unreadable. Small inscriptions like SWISS MADE and TWENTY-EIGHT (28) JEWELS, are orientated differently from the gen, they start and finish opposite the gen ones. This different orientation, due to the small fonts, is not noticeable in real size. But the big inscription CAL.P.9000 XXXXXX needs a different treatment because the size of the fonts will do noticeable the inaccuracies. In the gen, CAL.P.9000 inscription is placed to be read from the center of the movement and finishes near the balance wheel. It is impossible in a rep inverted layout movement to keep both conditions. ZFac has chosen to keep the reading from the center but then the inscription starts from the balance wheel side instead of finishing. KW has chosen finishing the inscription near the balance wheel and to turn the fonts to be read from outside the movement. Both are inaccurate in some way. The order of preference will be a taste matter.
This inverted KW movement is overall more accurate than inverted equivalent from ZFac.
Bellow is showed KW decorated inverted movement in comparison with the gen. Pic at the center shows the movement in the same alignment (see the crowns). The Pic at the right side shows the rep movement rotated to match the position of the gen balance wheel.

I really was very reluctant when bought this KW PAM 351 thinking that the finish in a Titaniun case wouldn’t be as perfect as SS KW cases. But I was surprised by the quality of KW Ti case, very uniform surfaces either polished or brushed and defined and sharp edges. Only some people have some claims about the finish and polishing of the bezel surface not being as perfect as the gen, this is completely normal and I think bezel, although not as sharp and nice as gen, is good enough. It is the same as happened in ZFac rep

June 2014- KW releases a new version of the reps of automatic PAMs fitted with P.9000. Concretely PAM 312- 359 and 351
We should call this new version KW V2 instead of only V2, in order not to make mistake with V2 version of old rep versions
This rep is fitted with a decorated movement like P.9000 with inverted layout based on Seagull ST2555. This movement has a false escapement wheel missing in first batches of decorated movements. Since this movement is Seagull based, the balance wheel is placed @6 instead of @7 like gen movement and is much bigger than gen. It is very interesting to say that these new KW V2 with Seagull, leaving aside the change of movement, are the same as KW V1, but they are sold clearly cheaper than old versions with A7750.
Decorated Seagull has also inverted layout like A7750 in relation to the gen movement, but Seagull balance wheel is placed @6 whereas A7750 balance wheel is placed @11. Since gen balance wheel is placed @7, decorated Seagull is visually more accurate than A7750. Besides, many people consider Seagull more reliable than A7750.
Anyway reduction of price is very interesting and we are getting even some advantages.

The reason of this change can be the strong competition with ZFac versions which has pushed KW to get more interesting prices and movement. Anyway these changes will be welcome for all PAM rep fans.
Bear in mind that maybe dealer catalogues will need some time to get changed the pics and the specifications. First weeks after the release, you will need to clarify with the dealer the version you are buying and paying.
Due to the movement is still inverted and not a clone movement, the differences are not substantial and we cannot modify the evaluation of this KW V2 version, just a bit better than previous version. We will keep the same evaluation as KW V1: First Class rep high level


-ZFac V2 P-series w/decorated A7750 NON-inverted ZP9000-V2
October 2014- ZFac releases a new version of PAM 351 P-series. This rep is fitted with a new ZP9000-V2 decorated movement like P.9000 with correct NON-inverted layout based on A7750. Since this movement is A7750 based, the balance wheel is much bigger than gen and it is still placed @11 instead of @7 like gen movement, but it has correct layout the same as gen. Bridges shape is not yet a mirror image of the gen but a copy of the gen bridges shape. Balance cock orientation is now exactly the same as gen. In the same way the inscriptions are placed and oriented just like gen. This NON-inverted layout is achieved by a technical trick. Maker has reduced the real balance cock to a simple bar, making it almost non visible under the regulation device and false escapement wheel. Then maker has used a false decoration of balance cock in the same orientation as gen has. In this way the movement main bridges can get a layout the same as the gen watch, with bridges inscriptions placed in correct orientation.
The brushing and finish are good, but not as nicely made as in KW decorations.
Bridges inscriptions are more accurate in fonts and better defined than inverted version. The overall layout is correct, but the accuracy of inscription positions, in relation with the case, is impossible because, as above said, rep balance wheel is placed @11, then all inscriptions are displaced due to that. Obviously this movement is more accurate than previous versions, but the shape of the new false decoration of balance cock is the same as before, being the shape completely inaccurate as happened with the inverted version, but with correct orientation. Due to the characteristics of ZFac decoration the bridges around the Balance wheel are much less open than gen and the rep Balance wheel “hole†is much smaller than gen, whereas rep balance wheel is really bigger than gen. All that produces a weird effect that makes this movement looks not so accurate as expected.
Anyway, this is an improvement in rep decorated movements which get better accuracy than inverted movements. Bear in mind that, although these movements have NON-inverted layout, they still have the balance wheel placed @11 instead of @7 like gen.
Bellow is showed New movement ZP9000-V2 in comparison with the gen. Pic at the center shows the movement in the same alignment (see the crowns). The Pic at the right side shows the rep movement rotated to match the position of the gen balance wheel.

As you can see in above pic, everything is placed in the same orientation but in different position from gen and the balance wheel zone seems very different. Those differences are the same in previous inverted versions but you cannot expect much improvement from the new decorated movement ZP9000-V2, leaving aside the correct layout and the correct orientation of the inscriptions.
We have to say that the new ZP9000-V2 has very nice inscriptions, even in the rotor, with thin fonts, sharp and well defined and in my opinion clearly better than previous versions either from ZFac or KW. Then, at least, this is a nice improvement.
Maybe the weakening of the real balance cock, being reduced to a bar, could affect the correct working of the movement, since this bridge is the main support of the balance wheel. Indeed ZFac in a new improved movement has keep the real balance wheel in its correct size, still hidden under the regulation device and the escapement wheel, just like KW decorated movements do.
There are no visible modifications on the rest of the watch. Due to above mentioned about new V2 decorated movement, this new feature doesn’t allow an upgrading of the evaluation. Of course this version is a bit more accurate than previous version with inverted layout movement but cannot get a Super rep Status. So, we can evaluate this rep as First Class rep high level, just a bit more accurate than previous ZFac version.


-KW-V6Fac V3 Q-series w/decorated Seagull NON-inverted KP9000-Seagull V2
May 2015- KW-V6Fac released a new rep KW V3 PAM 531 Q-series (some catalogues are indicating P-series, but the caseback engraving says Q-series). This rep is fitted with a new KP9000-Seagull V2 decorated movement like P.9000 with correct NON-inverted layout based on Seagull ST2555. Since this movement is Seagull based, the balance wheel is placed @6 instead of @7 like gen movement and is much bigger than gen. This placement @6 is an advantage over the A7750 based movements, because it is closer to gen placement @7 than in A7750 which have the balance wheel @11. This movement has correct layout the same as gen. Bridges shape is not yet a mirror image of the gen but a copy of the gen bridges shape. Balance cock orientation is now exactly the same as gen. In the same way the inscriptions are placed and oriented just like gen. In this way the movement main bridges can get a layout the same as the gen watch, with bridges inscriptions placed in correct orientation. The brushing and finish are very good, better than in ZFac movements.

With above mentioned features this KP9000-Seagull V2 movement has overall better accuracy than previous versions, making this movement the most accurate decorated based P.9000 starting 2015 with advantage over the A7750 based decorations either Zfac V2.5 or KW V2. Besides Seagull movement is cheaper and overall more reliable.
Although above improvements always bear in mind that, despite these movements have NON-inverted layout, they still have the balance wheel placed @6 instead of @7 like gen.
Below is showed movement KP9000-Seagull V2 in comparison with the gen. Pic at the center shows the movement in the same alignment (see the crowns). The Pic at the right side shows the rep movement rotated to match the position of the gen balance wheel.

As you can see in above pic, everything is placed in the same orientation but in different position from gen and the balance wheel zone (balance wheel “hole†and decoration of balance cock) seems in this movement much more accurate than in ZFAc V2, very similar to ZFac V2.5 and KW V2.
This new replica is the same as previous versions form KW-V6Fac but just changing the movement. This modification allows a cheaper replica, more accurate movement and reliable working. No changes in evaluation, just a more accurate and interesting version. First Class rep high level. IMO the best option available from May 2015.
