Hong Kong during the chinese new year

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

I've always wanted to do Hong Kong but have never got around to it but I'm thinking of a short visit as an excursion from my next trip to Pattaya in Jan/Feb.

What I'd like to know is will Hong Kong be even more busier than normal during the Chinese new year? Will the hotels be very busy and more expensive?

I'd be doing some toursity things as well as girls but don't want to be there If it's going to be rammed everywhere.

Cheers

The absolute worst time to go there. Full hotels, 1/2 of a billion people in transit elsewhere and if you think HK is crowded on a normal day (and you have never been and have no idea) try it for a month where people are off work and fucking the dog. Pick a different time.

You must have some reasonable capacity to use Google and if so you'd see that this is just a dumb idea. Unless you are HK or PRC Chinese and like lines for everything.

What he said - also a huge swath of the 121 girls fuck off back to the main land as well, so you get huge transport problems, queues everywhere, mass closures, and not much brass.

@ricktoronto

Thanks mate. I've read other posts on here from you and was actually hoping that you would answer  :)

So as I was fearing then. I did do Beijing and Shaghai at a similar time a few years ago and that was a bit mad.

@Hamchang

I was thinking that maybe the girls would be going home around that time similar to around Songkran when the thai girls go home

Exactly - the 141 girls are mostly Chinese and they go home with their yearly taking stuff up their jumper. Its a shit time to visit.

was just there and STUPID me failed to detect Dragon Boat Day. The crowds EVERYWHERE were simply horrendous. OMG. If the city had a fire marshall he'd have closed the gates as it was OVER Capacity.

Airplane fares into/out of hong kong get jacked up significantly as well. From about 1 week prior till 2 weeks after Chinese new year.
