The reason the beach was the state it was in, was because they decided to flush the drains, and all the crap poured out of the outflows beside the Beer Garden.

Well, that is what is being discussed on Thai Media sites.

it ain't from tourists on the beach. right now it's too hot to be out there  (except for a short time) other than under the shade of the beach vendors umbrellas

Beach Chair vendor Ladda Limkun was interviewed for the story and told the media that tourists, not locals, were to blame for the trash. She stated she observed tourists throwing trash on the beach daily and from boats when going for their boat tours. She stated that authorities were doing nothing to hold the tourists accountable.

Posted yonks ago about about Thai boat operator, anchored to shore, emptying his 4l 2stroke plastic container into the tank, and then throwing it over the side when it was "empty"...

Crappy with myself for not taking a pic - would have had his rego number, everything in there...Alas...

You can still watch the Koh Larn Rubbish Boats washing their skips in the sea at the Bali Hai.

Yep. Saw them dunking the stinking containers in the Bay.

I’ve also witnessed boat operators finish their lunch and toss the styrofoam container overboard.

One would think the operators would have a little respect for the environment (where they make a living)

Not long ago they had a lovely new machine towed by a tractor that cleared all the rubbish from the sand, not seen or heard about it for a while now.

With minimum wage as low as it is, perhaps justifies removing trash with manual labour.

Also there is the night-tine locals who eat/drink on the beach and leave everything. Meat bones/seafood shells just left there.

I agree they should employ local labour if they can but how they can justify a very expensive machine and tractor when they still have filthy beaches.

Mongers arn't coming to Pattaya for the beaches.

The justification is retaining hard won non-monger tourists who now make up the vast majority in Pattaya.

It would be justified if it was used and the beaches were clean but they are not.

If the trash were because of tourist wouldn't there be a low season for trash on the beach? Fewer tourist (if there is such a thing), then there'd be less trash on the beach. Much of it is from Thai's enjoying the beach at night and not cleaning up after themselves.
