NIU Electric Scooter

Recommended Posts

Recently stumbled across a neat electric scooter in Bangkok. NIU brand. Took it for a test spin. Very nippy. Around 98,000bt..

Range 80km. Battery can be carried inside for charging. Motor designed by BOSCHE so that's promising.

Specifications: https://www.niuthailand.com/N_Series/Spec

Nice flat floor and loads of storage make it a good for running the errands around town. The smartphone APP is nice for anti theft alert, riding habits, diagnostics, power  and navigation and has built in GPS tracking.

Felt a bit small for my 95k weight but should work out nicely for the average Thai riders.

Battery prices should be dropping over the next few years so I expect to see the electrics taking over soon.

I have a niu n1s in Germany since 2 years now. Main reason for buying it was that I have no motorbike license and this bike I can drive with by car license. I'm am very happy with the niu but would not recommend it for Thailand. Here you can get way better bikes for less money and you need the same license.

BTW the real range is 40km and until now there is no drop in the battery price.
