Bearing in mind how quiet it is this year, are there bargains to be had in low to mid range price hotels, or are the best deals still online (Agoda). I will be there beginning of June

For me, I want a booked room before I leave home. I just don't want the hassle of looking and finding one after the very long trip to get there.

What I do is search sites like Agoda and hotel.com and get an idea of the prices.

I then check the hotel website to compare the prices, remembering that the hotel price is the net price for the room while sites like Agoda will add the 10% and 7% at the end of the booking. Which ever is the best deal, I book it.

If you're not sure of the hotel that you want to stay at, book it for a few days. You find that its not the place for you, when get out and look for a new hotel. Nothing worse than getting to a hotel and find you don't want to stay there after you have already paid for it. Refunds are not easy to get because most don't give them.

My April reservations are already booked but working on my July trip. I started shopping several months ago and basically the prices having changed as of today.

OP - I have stayed in around 50 hotels and guest houses in Pattaya over the years. Your best bet is to join the various company membership schemes. Every so often most companies have ‘flash sales’. @whitespider posted an example recently of discounts which became available (and soon disappeared) at March hotel. Coincidentally, I also booked the excellent March hotel during the same flash sale and also got a room at 850thb.

Of course, after getting a good discount price, there is nothing to lose by asking the hotel to better the deal...though in most cases the answer will be that they cannot.

I like to have everything sorted out before landing.   Running around looking for a place to stay after an 18hour flight just does not appeal to me.   I would suggest booking directly with the hotel or rental agency for the condo.   It has always been cheaper for me when I booked direct, same goes for the plane ticket.
