Wave Hotel or Royal Cliff

Guys ,

I’m trying to book an upmarket hotel for January next year for a week in Pattay .

Must be upmarket and guest friendly around £100 a night mark maybe slightly more. I’m looking at the Royal Cliff or the Wave , what’s anyone experiences of these hotels or can some one  else reccommend  something else ?

I would also be happy with an upmarket apartment as well .

Thanks

Do you care about location? Royal Cliff is a very nice hotel, but really not handy for going out at night, you will pay extra for transport. It's at Pratamnak (between Pattaya and Jomtien) and not much around the hotel. Very nice pools there and a great view over the sea.

Waive is on Beach Rd. between Central Festival and Royal Garden. Much better location. Much smaller hotel and the pool is not deep.

Hilton on top of Central Festival would be the best, but that may be above your budget. If you are after the younger Girls, they do not let under 20 stay there.

There is a lot of Info about hotels and Condo's in this section of the Forum. As you have enough time to book, maybe spend an hour or two to read it.

As mentioned previously, Royal Cliff is really nice, but it isn't convenient to the action.  I'd stay there with a girlfriend, but not for mongering.  Wave hotel is right on Beach Rd, central to just about everything and on a baht bus route.  From what I understand, both are girlfriendly.   For a mongering holiday, I'd say the choice between the two is easy.

I never stayed at thr Royal Cliff, so I can’t comment on that one.

In the first few years I stayed at the Hilton and one time at the Wave. They are both nice hotels but I wouldn’t stay at them anymore after I looked further. If I was you I would look at a condo. Much more value for your money. This is the room I had a couple of times http://www.dancewatchers.com/vt6_x_18-659.html

The building is between the Hilton and the Wave, so close to the action. The only thing you might miss is the breakfast but I was not awake early enough for that many times. You have more choice for breakfast if you go outside anyway.

The Holiday Inn isn’t too bad and in your budget probably depending on what deals are around.

I haven't stayed at Royal Cliff, but I have stayed (often) at the InterContinental, which is very close to Royal Cliff (just around the corner).

They ARE a bit isolated, but a songtaew or taxi isn't cost-prohibitive.  If you're willing to go moto-taxi, it's likely cheaper (but I won't get on a motorbike, so I can't say for sure).

Distance-wise, it isn't THAT far, but there isn't a well-lit, easily walked path to/from it.  My LLT decided I needed more exercise and had us walk back to InterContinental from Sky Gallery.  The distance didn't bother me near as much as worrying about snakes or getting hit by a car since there was no sidewalk.

I actually like being a bit isolated and away from the hustle and bustle of Pattaya.  It really feels like a resort, but you're smack in the middle of whore-central after a short shuttle bus or taxi ride!

Although I have no personal experience, one thing to check on Royal Cliff is what type of room/location you are getting.  I get the impression that they have a number of different buildings/rooms, at a number of different price levels.  While a top of the line room may be great, the rooms at the other end of the spectrum may be disappointing.

Sent a PM.

I am a returning customer, so I am happy with the condo. The real owner lives one door next to the room with the jacuzzi. Dancewatchers is only the company that rents the condo for the owner. There are several packages for cleaning the condo, so you can choose how many times you want it cleaned. You can see on the calender if it is available.

Royal Cliff is an outstanding hotel,  the height of luxury, and when I stayed there (few years back) I found it to be guest friendly. I love the Pratumnak Hill area, like the peace and quiet, like the handful of bars and restaurants. If you have a GFE in tow, it is the ultimate hotel in Patts.

However, for a purely mongering holiday I would choose a hotel in central Pattaya. Maybe a suite at LK Empress.

Chalk and cheese really. Royal Cliff is a large resort style hotel on the outskirts of town and Wave is a small boutique hotel in the centre of the action. Neither go out of their way to attract Mongers but neither are likely to turn away your temporary guest. In thirty years of visiting Pattaya The Royal Cliff is probably still the best hotel that i have stayed at in town. If you have a reasonable budget it would be a good place to go with your wife or girlfriend.  I've never stayed at The Wave but it does intrigue me. Unfortunately on my dates i have never seen it listed at less than 5000 to 5500 baht per night for entry level rooms.
