Wondered if anyone had stayed at this place and wondered what it is like booked there for a couple of nights in May.

Do you mean Siam Sawadee? If so location is spot on.

A guy I knew stayed in it a few years back and it was pretty rough. 

However just read some Tripadvisor reports and people seem to think it’s better now. 

As I said location is good.

If you have free cancellation pay a little more and book D hotel. It’s excellent and on the bhat bus route and in my eyes best value for money in town.
