Staying in Jomtien but spending “all your time” in Pattaya

I have never stayed as far out as Jomtien when I have visited Pattaya. However some of the hotels look nice and offer value for money there. Also the surrounding area look much nicer and laid back. Make no mistake, I will travel there for mongering, and its likely I will spend a lot of time in KL / WS / Soi Hok. Would you still recommend staying in Jomtien and commute from there?

I started this thread a while back, it will give you an idea of Jomtien:

In response to your question, I'd say condos in Jomtien offer better value than hotels and some of the larger hotels have a lot of package tours visiting. I’m not sure how guest friendly some of them are.

Getting into Pattaya on a baht bus can take anything from 15 minutes to 35 minutes depending on time of day and where you’re going. If you think you’ll be going in 2 or 3 times a day every day then probably best to stay in Pattaya. If you only plan on going in evenings then Jomtien is nice to relax during the day.

I rent a condo long term in Jomtien. Davidge's thread has a lot of good info.

Also, consider the time of year that you will be there. Evening baht bus times to Pattaya are worse in high season. I like the area because it is more laid back, has better restaurants IMO than Pattaya, the beach is nicer, and there is a slightly lower percentage of ridiculous drunks wandering about.

stay in a condo in Jomtien and usually go into Pattaya once or twice a day via rented motorbike. Takes five minutes to reach third road and bringing a girl back has never been a problem, just mind your drinking, the BIB are thick theives at evening checkpoints. Yes, Jomtien is low key compared to the crazy hustle and bustle of Pattaya. The are many good restaurants but the TG action is MILFS and third stringers compared to Pattaya.

Every hole a goal.

Condoms kill boners. Save the boners.

If the OP is going to be spending most of his time in Pattaya then better to just stay there and catch a baht bus into Jomtien during the day to chill out once in a while IMHO

Jomtien is perfect for those who are in retirement living .  For me , I thought it was a mistake to buy a condo at Pratumnak Hill because I has to be in Pattaya everyday to  play pool for 6-8 hours  , as time goes by ,  I learned/found a better timescale  to avoid traffic . I go before 11 am to Pattaya to have breakie and leave Pattaya at 7/8 pm . I could buy a bike but with the terrible accident static’s in Pattaya , I couldn’t take a chance cos I’m a terrible driver  with a car , had 7accidents during my driving years , meaning there’s more chance of me getting the accident in Pattaya than most people . Furthermore , I realised that Jomtien is better place for me when I’m getting older and retired from pool/snooker scene , would be nice to read the books by the swimming pool away from the traffic jams in Pattaya in peace . There’s always girls/Ladyboys available at your door within 30 mins  That is my very own honest opinion.

For me I would prefer to stay in the area of my normal evening activities. If I liked Jomtien in the daytime but spent every night on Walking Street I'd stay in Pattaya.

I'd rather travel to Jomtien in the daylight while well rested but have a short trip home in the evening when tired, drunk and a belly full of food.
