Hi,

I searched all of google for a Clinic or Hospital to get Pre-exposure prophylaxis consultation and prescription in Pattaya. Only legit source I could find was the https://www.pulse-clinic.com in Bangkok they are coming to Pattaya at the end of this year.

Does anyone know where I can get this done in Pattaya? Any experience? Has anyone done it and is taking it?

Thanks in advance.

If you're so worried about catching HIV in Pattaya that you're willing to take drugs that could have all sorts of nasty side effects, perhaps you might want to reconsider your holiday destination.  Unless of course you've already lined up a hottie who has admitted being HIV+ and you absolutely need to be with her... then carry on.

If you want a better experience with your "date"... read, learn, live the following:

Thanks for the constructive answer and that you are willing to share your knowledge about the nasty side effects you obviously have informed yourself about. Pattaya is although not my holiday destination rather my home for the last 10 years. Did you vote for trump?

I'm not sure. Why not take a trip to Bangkok?

You can get PrEP Travuda from Bangkok Pattaya hospital, quite expensive so i wouldn't recommend, you could try the govt hospitals such as Bang Lamung, i understand they may be providing the generic to Thais.

Alternatively head to Red Cross in Bangkok near Nana.

It should be an embarrassment to the medical profession that PrEP generic is so hard/impossible to get in Pattaya, the biggest brothel in the world

Thanks Scuba.

Totally agree, should be handed out for free to all female, male and in-between sex-workers.

Although a big mystery why its so hard to get the brand or generic version for sex-customers like me.

I think I will give the Pulse Clinic in Bangkok a try, they are about to open a branch in Pattaya at the end of this year.

Weird that there is such a stigma attached to it.

I though that you would have to start taking PrEP before you left home I thought it took time to build up in the body ( my understanding could be wrong)

The other point might be more to do with "face' and image for tourism.

I do agree there should be more to counter any disease . The clinics should or could be a central point for inoculations  for things like Hep A + B , Dengue, TB,  PrEP and probably a whole host of other things. Pattaya being a meeting point for all the worlds sex tourists , would be an ideal place where viruses as well as influenza would/could mutate. I am surprised that the WHO have not set up shop here to run studies. The sex workers should be given free testing.

Totally agree, I've found them to be sheepish about it in Pattaya, go in a pharmacist and ask and they will probably be a little embarrassed to talk about, they were with me. Then there was my Bangkok Pattaya hospital experience when the female doctor said i should find a girlfriend instead.

Bangkok Red Cross is a brilliant example of how it can be set up. Lots of testing available, free condoms, PrEP, PEP and everything connected with it

I haven't been to the Pulse Clinic but the Bangkok Red Cross is excellent, works out about 1300 baht or less for 3 months supplies and testing.

No appointment necessary at the Bangkok Red Cross, you just go early is best, you get a number and away you go, its very well organised. Onsite pharmacy closes 12-1pm, so i try and get finished before 12. The HIV test they do at the start takes about an hour for results. I get there 8.30am and done before 12

The Viagra or Kamagra they sell is already dubious fake shite so you want to trust them with something like PrEP drugs? Probably not a great plan, Stan.

Since you probably haven't the best background in terms of dosing and monitoring why not attend the Red Cross clinic mentioned above and do it right?

I had done some extensive online research on PrEP. The problem with PrEP becoming more and more popular in Thailand is that the working girls and ladyboys will adopt this more and more and if they dont adhere to the schedule (which many of them wont) then the chances of them getting HIV and then it becoming drug resistant are pretty high. If that happens more and more then its a disaster.

I can't see the girls being disciplined to take PrEP, a chance a minority will start taking but may give up. I've struggled to persuade some to take meds for herpes, take the pill and talk of PrEP went in one ear and out the other. No idea about LBs but they should definitely be taking it if not too late already. As for asking them about regular testing, that's futile and forget a crash helmet

not really that many side effects to prep, quick google search will show you and only <10% of users experience it. I intermittently use it when I know I'm gonna be doing high risk stuff, the only side effect was insomnia for the first week of taking it.

the only real risk is that you forget to take it. Taking a pill a day sounds easy but its easy to forget once your on the piss.
