A question of timing.

Hello, I'm hoping to head to Pattaya around the quiet season June/July and I'm trying to figure if it is better to book ahead or gamble on getting cheaper rates by booking closer to when I'm going?

Was thinking of Areca or Intimate hotel for a handy location. Any advice much appreciated

Cheers

There’ll be no problem finding a room close to the date but unlikely to be cheaper than some of the deals for early booking.

I was looking at the Areca website for my dates in July and a room in the Evergreen wing (super deluxe?) with breakfast was just over 1500. Cant see it being cheaper last minute.

I always like to get my accommodation sorted straight after my flights anyway.

Thanks davidge. The rates do look  reasonable already

I have stayed there three times; this rate is excellent for Evergreen Wing. The breakfast is for two persons so you can feed Mrs Sopeachy of the day too!

Check the website. If you stay for (how many?) days, you can pay to join the (forget the name) club and get extra discount. One minute's work to see if it worthwhile.

hotel location is good. Baht buses both ways in nearby Soi Buakhao and only three minutes walk to Second Road. Another five minutes to Beach Road. See map.

Yes. It shows about 850 baht to join but it gives you 10% off the rate.

Edit: ACE Club and it’s 890 baht.

You're right about ACE Club and 890 THB, but you get 15% discount on room rates, as well as 15% discount on food at the hotel (but not alcoholic drinks, sadly).

It also says that you get 15% off on spa services, but the spa isn’t run by the hotel, and the prices are sky high. I've never had a good experience with the spa, but I love the hotel. I've spent almost 400 nights there during my 15 stays.

It said 10% on the website next to the room prices when I searched, but I’m not going to complain if it’s 15 :D

Probably won’t stay there anyway but still pondering my options.
