Hotels - traveling with teenaged daughter

Anyone have suggestions for hotels suitable for family travel. Daughter and I will be in Pattaya for three days - looking at Avani because of the big pool but would probably be better off away from monger-ville.

So, I’d like something similar in price to Avani, convenient to shopping and with a very nice pool area.

So, as a disclaimer, I haven't even seen Terminal 21 yet. However, traveling with a teenage girl, aren't there some hotels in or around Terminal 21 Mall? It's a bit of a stereotype, but I know my daughter would ~love~ staying in a hotel that near to a big medium to upscale mall with shopping, and food, and movies.

Siam@Siam is a really nice hotel, near terminal 21, has 2 great roof top pools and doesn't get many mongers. It does get lots of tour groups who tend to be out all day.  The view from the roof especially at night is fantastic.

Hard Rock is also a family friendly place with a great pool and not far from Central Festival along Beach Rd and Terminal 21 via baht bus along 2nd Road.

Mixedberrys - both very good suggestions, which I wish I had seen before I had went ahead and booked Avani. A bit of buyers remorse, but oh well, Avani has a very nice pool and gym, and one of us will be very happy to be connected to a mall!

Mate,

Try soi AR, opp Soi 6, lots of decent hotels in a really nice non P4P environment. Most of the hotels run a fee shuttle bus to Terminal 21. I can recommend Centara Nova Spa, Nova Gold, At Mind Exclusive and KTK...no girl bars around, but next to Jameson’s Irish Bar and a couple of decent restaurants.

Just thinking wouldn't a holiday in Majorca be a more suitable place to take your daughter. You are gonna have very blue balls thinking about what you can't have!

Not a place to bring your daughter, so many better places

As a contrary opinion, there are lots and lots of people who vacation in Pattaya and have no interest, and little interaction with P4P venues. You could easily fill up several days renting a car and driver, and working your way through your own highlights of this sort of list:

https://www.tripadvisor.com/Attractions-g293919-Activities-Pattaya_Chonburi_Province.html

The last several years, board members have been lamenting about how P4P venues are getting tamer and closing down, and how the influx of non-monger tourists are "ruining" Pattaya. The Pattaya powers that be have been pushing for an increased "family friendly" Pattaya for a while now, and in my own opinion, it would be pretty easy to have a busy, active, fun-filled week in Pattaya and not visit any P4P venues at all. While I think P4P opportunities are pretty much everywhere in Pattaya, there are only a few areas where it's really in your face, and there are fewer of those with each passing year.

One possibility for a day car would be Nam, but there are several options available. Asking the front desk of wherever you're staying would be another.

Nam Taxi - 8 hours, includes waiting around in whichever parking lot - 2200b

Indeed there are. Flying into Bkk , brief stop off in Pattaya then pushing on from Utapao

I stay here if travelling with family iy has the most amazing pool and lazy river, loads to do for 3 days great fun

We stayed there last year and whilst there was plenty to like about it and it’s certainly a family hotel, the beach was absolutely nothing like the pictures and it felt like staying in a small, Chinese city.

My recommendation would be the Manta Pura, near the bus station. Very easy to get into and out of the centre and popular with Thai families.

Funnily enough I was out in Udon Thani tonight watch the fireworks display, and I bumped into a mate of mine...he was raving about Centara Mirage as a family hotel.

I'm not being funny mate but Pattaya is an absolute filthy shit hole in comparison to 90% of the places I've been in Europe alone. There's no way I would bring my 2 little children there. Rather take them to Spain and only a 2 hour flight. If it wasn't for the girls and shagging, and that I have a lot of mates who go to Pattaya I would never go again

Totally understand, and were it me, I would not make Pattaya a primary destination either. However, if there is another reason why you're holidaying in Thailand, or SE Asia, and there are a ~vast~ number of places to have a great vacation in Thailand and SE Asia, I wouldn't avoid Pattaya as a secondary or tertiary stop-over. I personally like architecture. For me seeing how far they currently are on the Santuary of Truth is worth a visit to Pattaya for me. An opportunity to visit the White Temple alone was reason enough for me to go to Chiang Rai, and there are lots of other things to see and do around Chiang Rai. I don't know what @tps and his daughter like to do, but whatever it is, there's a reasonable chance that somewhere near to Pattya will fit with activities they enjoy as a side trip when they are already over here on this side of the world.

So again yes, to fly a long distance to just go to Pattaya as a family vacation seems pretty silly (but there are a great number of Russians and Chinese who do exactly that.) To make a short side trip to visit the many non-P4P areas around Pattaya doesn't seem that unreasonable to me. And just like Spain is pretty close to you in West Yorkshire, Thailand is pretty close to Beijing for @tps :-)

I'd say Centrepoint at Terminal 21. But if you intend for your daughter to be in the same room as you and your wife, the harder trick might be to find a hotel that allows an extra bed. We did that a few years ago and in the end went with Season Five hotel.

I stayed at the Centara Mirage with my then regular TG and her five-year-old daughter.  It was a great hotel for children, one of the best I've seen anywhere in the world.  In addition to the the "water park" theme, the hotel had a "kids club" with activities from 8 am to 8 pm. There was so much for her to see and do the little girl was ecstatic.  It was a fantasy world come alive for her.  She cried when we checked out, she wanted to stay forever.  The hotel had a free shuttle to Central Festival, I imagine now it will go to Terminal 21.

But for a teenage girl, Terminal 21 is probably a better choice.  The Avani isn't a bad choice at all, great pool and Royal Garden with Ripley's next door.

I did this place twice with family. The good thing when you have a teenager is it far from Walking Street. Too far for the teenager to wonder over to the night activities or observe beach road but a easy taxi or motor bike away, if you want to leave them alone at night for some time while you go out. Security in the hotel in case they want to wander around the site. Good gym and games area for them too.

2 Recommendations would be:

view talay 6 Its right beside Central festival but its not a hotel but it should have what you need.

Areca Lodge its not over run by mongers its close to family hotel today only issue here its right across from LK Metro.

If money is not the big issue Hilton would be a good choice too.

All my suggestions are in Central Pattaya but I dont know exactly what you want to spend your days on so the question is if you need the central location

Why don't you try the Thai Garden Resort on Pattaya Nua road a few steps up from Terminal 21. The resort is very clean with large rooms and an extremely big pool.

OP - I like Areca, but it’s in a totally unsuitable area for a family holiday in my view. Getting off the B.B. and walking up soi Diana with your family...err no thanks.

@LOTTELLEE WINNA Kinda what I mentioned LK Metro.

I see Soi Diana as pretty tame and a Teenage Daughter probably have an idea on whats going on anyways.

I have seen so many families walk through Soi 6 its insane and Soi Diana has 1 beer bar complex on the way there never seen anything naughty on display.

But agree its not the best of locations but inside the hotel its a good "family hotel" and the location is amazing.
