Thanks for the update Striderman, great pictures as usual.   The beach looks so good but the water is still so dirty and how long will the beach last when it gets round to rainy season again?

No they have done nothing whatsoever to address cause of this erosion. And this winter with the Northerly wind driven waves and longshore currents all this top sand on the sandbags will be going down the river. Then with this sand washed out all these  exposed sandbags all along the beach will be be a decaying geologic mess. As you point out above with the sandbags at Dusit pt.To address the cause of the yearly problem for Pattaya bay would require some foreign engineers specializing in beach erosion:  For example construction of rock jetties .By the way this is just the latest in a series of failed projects that started in 2013. That is when that sorry mess of construction   trailers in that disaster zone above Walking st appeared  This current project is by far more substantial than the previous 3 or 4. But it is doomed to end up a mess.

The exposed aggregate step cut into one end looked to be a decorative finish but that's  not  the case.  The blocks of bonded aggregate are being strapped to the edge of the concrete wall then covered up.

The purpose, I'm not sure.

With high season upon us, the south end of the beach, from about Soi 8 to Beer Garden is still a right fucking mess.

Did it displace the beach road girls? where do they hang out now?

There’s still plenty of beach for those who want to use it.  The mongers you’re worried about in high season don’t go on the beach anyway.

The north end is in good shape and with the widening gives it a much better look.  The chairs are not as intrusive.

Yes, girls are on both sides now which is a pain if you are looking for one. Switched side partly due to the work being carried out but mainly the police sweeps

I'm in Patts now, got to say the beach is fantastic, obviously not finished but what they have done is great.

Remains to be seen how it lasts over time and whether it'll be maintained

Buried alive. The sand level is about 5 foot higher. Theres a tree where loads of rats live in the roots by mike shopping mall, I'm wondering if the rats will find their way out

Epicurus.

Now that it has been mentioned, I don't think I've seen many rats on beach road.

Here's hoping they escape and bring beach road back to how it was. A good washing away of that beach should send the message to city council of the type of town pattaya must stay.

Does beach nourishment completely stop erosion?
Nourishment is not a long-term solution to beach erosion. The erosive forces of waves, storms, and rising sea levels do not disappear after nourishment takes place. Waves will continue to “chew on” the sand, and eventually it erodes away, moving down the coast and offshore.

Hopefully they do get rid of them , they scare the shit out of me .

Had a TG tell me that because of the Buddist thing  , that Thai people believe that a rat has as much of a rite to exist as a human ....so maybe the powers that be , don't want to get rid of them.

A couple of dozen cats down there would take care of them

Striderman great work man hats off to you. Any chance you could get a testing kit and see independently how dirty that filthy seawater actually is?

Was watching Kev in Thailands channel the other day where he made a new video about this, it does look quite good I must say.

Something he mentioned is that there was a rumour going around that they don't plan to stop once they get to Walking Street, and that the plan may possibly be to do as they have discussed for some time and take down the side of WS that is over the water due to land encroachment issues.

Anyone else heard anything about that or is it nonsense?

Would be surprised if true given the potential money involved but you never know in Thailand.

nonsense from kev who in that video never mentions the way the sand is brought in and pumped ashore etc. he just says i don't know. it's not rocket science to open your eyes and watch how it is being done.
